Big East rejects espn offer. Going to open market.
@AstrosFan1975 @MHver3 no it will force the big 12 to act because according to the new bcs replacement the big 12 needs more teams for more$
26 Oct MHver3 MHver3 @MHver3
@dvabel @astrosfan1975 bingo! Espn been on the horn with B12 officials all day
If espn has its way the B12 will actually become numerically correct. The pressure is on!
Louisville AD extremely unhappy about leaving espn. Renewed enthusiasm on exiting the Big East.
Rutgers and USF also making closing arguments to Big12 officials.
@onetri7 espn may have backed us in a corner with the $50 mil ACC buyout..at least until B1G moves. 2 BE teams likely.
I know mhver is questionable but the other guy I have no idea. Any insight from anyone? It sure has been quiet.
Interesting if true.... I had a feeling ESPN would not take kindly to us rejecting their offer. I think their goal now may be to destroy the Big East altogether. Perhaps their previous moves were to weaken it to get the price down, but still leave enough worth having (though at a discount). Now, since it appears they won't get it at all, they may have put on their Tony Montana costume... "You wanna play rough?!! OK....". Perhaps this is our ticket out...
Time will tell, but the end of the exclusive negotiating window had been pegged by a couple folks here & there as a potential tipping point. Based on ESPN's behavior thus far, a little more "trimming of fat" off the Big East roster would not surprise me in the least....
I am TheContractor from TOS2. Accept no substitutes...
I understand some of this stuff could wind up benefiting us, but I just think that ESPN is pure evil anymore. I really do.
I think ESPN, Roy Kramer and the BCS are by far the worst things to ever happen to college sports.
What really blows my mind is that someone hasn't tried to slap an anti-trust suit against them or the BCS. They have WAY too much power in what is supposed to be a free market. I mean, if ESPN is truly helping to call the shots on a lot of this conference realignment, I don't see how that wouldn't be seen as being illegal. They are harming a lot of universities in their pursuit of power and more money.

So, will the Big 12 listen to ESPN, and invite Louisville and either Rutgers/USF? If they are smart they will. But, I don't know. The leaders at the Big 12 just seem to be a bunch of lying money-grubbers. ESPN better make it worth their while. Git 'er done!
ESPN is definitely evil but for once they might be evil in our favor. Assuming BYU is forever out of the picture I hope the Big 12 adds us and Rutgers but USF is also a good program. Cincinnati simply doesn't cut it when it comes to facilities and fan support but I hope they end up in a good spot nonetheless.
If we're invited for the 2013-2014 season it gives us a good shot at going to back to back BCS bowls.
I know it wouldn't happen, but, selfishly, I'd like UC, as it's a close road trip....however, our recruting in Cincy would likely pick up if cincy is left out....
I'd rather have USF to keep a regular game in FL for recruiting......however, I think there would need to be a stipulation for them to add an on campus facility of at least 50k to start.

F##K! Someone I trust very much just told me Lville & another (not an ACC) school will be joining the Big12 this summer. Horrible news.....
I personally think they're all full of sh!t, but it's fun to follow this stuff.
Havent heard anything from CardinalJim, xxxxcardinalPrincessxxx or some of Texas Card. They usually have a pretty good pulse of things. Kind of wondering is things are heating up towards the Big 12. Especially since the Big East has thumbed their noses at ESPN.
That Tuxedo Yoda guy is that Texas fan I have seen on the U of L boards. He says horrible news, huh? Well f*## him. They couldn't even beat WVU at home. You'd think they would want the best program now available in their league.
I have no insider info WHAT SO EVER, but I just have a feeling there is more going on behind the scenes now then ever before (minus the UofL Vs. WVU thing last spring). It is way too quiet and we are drawing more attention then anyone in the Big12 minus KState. The Big12 can bluff all they want, but they know without a championship game they will get left out in the cold. Its a harsh reality, but hey, right now we are all dealing with harsh realities. We will be a Big 12 member before the playoff starts. I'd bet every dollar in my pocket on it (which isnt much lol).
To hell with the Big XII. Stick it out in the Big East until we know for sure we will never get an ACC invite. If the Big East is near ACC money levels and gets that 7th bowl, the Big XII can go pound sand for all I care.
I think yoda was referring to the other school not being Acc. Plus if the Big 12 is going to gamble on one of our Florida schools I'm hearing Ucf might get the nod because of the Orlando market. I still think it will be Rutgers or more if they decide on 14.

I hope they dont pick either UCF or USF.
Yes I think getting into the Florida area for recruiting is essential.
USF has sub par Football and attendance, decent soccer, baseball, but Bball is atrocious.
Big 12 can do better. But I think Rutgers is a stretch geographically.
Best bet is BYU, or Cincy.
and comment like that, you won't ,I don't answer to slurs
Sorry guys ,it has been quiet, not gonna make stuff up ,HOWEVER;Tux is pretty connected , Usually ,right on , was talking about ND to ACC as was I,one of the first ,generally does not make outlandish predictions ,

Cardzone, I meant nothing by it. I couldn't remember your moniker. I thought their was someone named cardinal princess or something like that, s(he) seemed to pretty well in touch with what's going on. Very sorry to confuse you two. Purely unintentional and not meant to be slanderous.
And I do greatly appreciate your insight. If this Texas Yoda guy in in tune, and he seems to think we will be admitted by Next summer. I would think an announcemnt would have to be made in the very near future for scheduling purposes.
Again Cardzone accept my apology.
Another tweet from Tuxedo Yoda...
@TuxedoYoda: With Lville coming to the Big12, part of me wishes Texas could say "screw the GOR" & go to the Pac12 or Big10. Not what we signed up for....

@Muleyak Important people are sure that Lville is coming to the Big12. As for team #12, it hasn't been decided.
I have read that guy on the boards a lot and he is very condescending towards us. No biggie, though, we will always have detractors and that is just one person. Quite frankly, the way Texas has performed on the field and on the court, I don't see what the big fuss about them is, other than, quite simply, they bring a lot of money. Their performances on the field and on the court rarely live up to their hype. I am not saying they aren't a good program, but no so much that they should be turning their noses up at us.
He's funny. If he has that much disrespect for us, you would think he would want us in the conference so that Texas may have a chance to win another conference game. No excuse for their play with the talent they stockpile every year.
At least it appears we will finally be making the move. And as was pointed out above, if we are actually coming in next summer then an announcement should be forthcoming in the near future.
Was chatting back and forth with him and you're right very condescending. He wants an historically rich football program. Not more "mediocres" I said after Kansas had them down, and they're giving up 46 pts a game. I wouldn't want anymore mediocres either, or they will be in the bottom have of the Big 12.
I saw your exchange with TY, and you may want to point out to him that only two Big 12 schools have more wins in BCS games than UofL (UT 3-1 & OU 3-5) and that we have as many wins as Nebraska (1-1), and should have as many appearances as them at the end of this season. We also have more wins than ND (0-3), even though they have played in three times as many games. The arrogance of some these fan bases is laughable.
It's all the same. UK, Texas, Ohio State, all arrogant. Some have a rt to be. Some don't (West Virginia). But, none have the right to look down their noses at anybody.
Ive tweeted to David Ubben and Brett Murphy to see if they had any insight to this rumor. Neither answered as expected.

The Longhorns basically get first choice of every recruit in Texas by default. Even if they had a former UK coach running the show, it should basically be impossible for them to lose more than four games in any year.
