I'm sure all of you know this, but The Journal News in NY released a Google maps powered map of all registered gun owners in a certain district of New York. Here is an interview of some of those people whose info was released.

I guess my first observation is that this information is already obtainable? Regardless, it's a total douche move by that paper.
Can anyone in here stand by the paper in question actions?
Yeah I agree. It's apparently publicly available already just not in a fancy centralized location. Douche move is a good description.
There's already been a burglary where a residents house was targeted because of the info being printed. Fortunately, the criminals could not get into the gun safe.

The ACLU will handle this right?
It's why we've been more divided under this administration more than any other. The left wants this and is purposely doing it to villify people and make them look like horrible human beings. That's what they want. Targeting your neighbor next door is a perfect way to demonize people and for others to look at people differently since you have a gun. This is a new era folks. The liberal press has an agenda and it doesn't care about your "good name".
You generalize more than anyone I've ever witnessed, you poor victim, you.
I don't know anyone who said the paper in question was in the right here. It was a dick move. A legal one, apparently since it's public information, but a dick move nonetheless.
Who said freedom of speech was not dangerous
It's a horrible breach of privacy. If the ACLU were involved, they'd be backing the individuals.

You can't tell milt that. The guy is a living, breathing Fox News talking point. Can you imagine what it's like at his dinner table?
"I saw a car with an Obama sticker on it today, Mildred. I yelled at him real good and cut him off and he didn't even yell back. Stupid pansy liberals. Can you pass the potatoes?"
sorry dude. The MSM has clearly pushed the anti-gun agenda from day one on this case. The media began almost non-stop reporting on efforts nationwide to curtail the rights of lawful gun owners. It's clear and obvious and you can't see it. David Gregory on "Meet the Press" with his ammunition prop for example; Piers Morgan on CNN calling the NRA staff "idiots"; the press leaking legal gun owner's names. You may have blinders on and think it's just Fox news but any rational person can see where the agenda is.
" If the ACLU were involved, they'd be backing the individuals."
I had not heard anything at all from the American Civil Liberties Union pertaining to their stance on proposed gun control legislation. Go on their website and they will defend gay rights, immigrants, racial justice, reproductive rights, and Gitmo prisoner's but nothing on rights of gun owner's. Apparently, you can trample on them all you want as far as they are concerned. the ACLU is more concerned with the rights of non-citizen potential terrorists being housed in a foreign country than they are about the Constitutional rights of law-abiding American citizens living within the borders of the United States.
Kind of gives me an idea of who has a weapon in their home if my son were over there.
Like any weapon in general? like maybe a steak knife?
I love this argument. You can kill people with knives and Jeeps and rocks and hammers, so why don't you outlaw them? So simple and pathetic it's almost cute.
Please tell us what civil liberty has been trampled.
Since the answer would be none that would explain why the ACLU is not involved.
Despite what the Foxinistas want you to believe, the ACLU has defended many groups that have had their civil liberties infringed upon, even the far right.
The ACLU has long been identified in the LOPCATGOPATA.

So you think posting that info is the best way to find out if your sons friends have guns? I get why you dislike guns btw. Would you like for the Courier to post the same info? Say your name would be on the list and now every criminal knows they can sneak over to your house. How much safer is your son now? Would you rather the break in happen at your house or while he is at his friends house whose parents own a gun? Regardless I promise you that if one night your house was broken into by two men with guns you would rather own a gun or two your self. Heck, maybe even safely teach your family how to protect themselves with a gun. Because the minute you hear glass break and call 911, and you don't own a gun, that right there would be a bad day.
How about asking them if they have guns, and if they're secured properly. Gun locks are FREE at the police stations.
I'm ready to move on. The sickening spectacle of America murdering it's youth evidently sits in second place to gun ownership priorities. If this needs to be the case, the best result is to thin the herd with people whose ego's are tiny enough to feel changed and more secure by owning a gun.
Teddy Bears are cheaper, actually.
And Bibles cost even less.

I think the phrase "America murdering it's youth" is a major overstep. Comparing idiot Adam Lanza to America as a whole is completely mindless.
But everybody knows that's what all gunowners want to do - murder children.
I just wish they would make murder illegal, and then it would stop.
I have zero opinion on Lanza. He was an adult.
I do have an opinion on the possession of guns which I stated which will not be particularly popular among those to whom guns frankly seem to mean a bit too much for mentally healthy persons from my view.
Otherwise, as I said, this argument is wearing on me. Guns and porn. Boats and ho's. About as fascinating as a tractor.
Hey, regardless of anything being argued about, it would be a good idea to start getting people to lock up their firearms.
Training and education classes could be very beneficial, couldn't they? Reiterate responsibility to gun purchasers. The responsibility for the firearm doesn't stop when it's not in your hands. Having a gun safe would help keep kids from getting a hold them so easily, and it would keep people who didn't have any business with them from taking them. If Lanza's mom had locked up her guns, maybe we would have had a different situation in Connecticut. Maybe not. But he wouldn't have been able to get THOSE guns.
It's one thing to know how to handle a gun, but I'm guessing some people may not think about what can happen with those guns if someone else gets them. Having a person who is diagnosed with a mental disorder in your home would make it imperative that your guns be locked up.

Given how often the framers of our Constitution wrote about citizens and firearms (as has been discussed on here lately), I guess we can deduce they had some mental instability, as well.
Bibles are free, and they can barely give them away these days
