That is seriously the argument used on Bangs' show by him, his nerd herd, and the callers.
WR position is gonna be better - 'because everyone returns so they cant be any worse'
OL position is gonna be better - 'because they were horrendous last year and cannot be any worse'
QB position is gonna be better - 'because Newton started last year so they cant be any worse'Nothing was said about returning TALENT, incoming TALENT, returners that showed steady improvement during the season last year and are primed for breakout performances, or the coaching staffs ability to develop guys and produce and effective gameplan.
I knew it was bad - but when you're hanging your hat on the 'they cannot be any worse, therefore they will be better' line of thinking you know your team is in big trouble.
I also found out by listening today that Teddy Bridgewater cannot throw the ball - Ummmkay.
I found out that UK nearly TIED UL last year - even though they conveniently forget the 70yd gain that probably was going for a TD that got called back when the douche in the stands blew a whistle - and they conveniently forget the Safety for Intentional Grounding that wasn't called. The game wasn't close. UL dominated from start to finish and the only reason UK was even close was because of A) a FAN and B) an egregious refereeing error.
Lastly, I found out that we think that Eli Rogers (like our 4th or 5th best receiver) is the next coming of Jerry Rice and cannot ever stop talking about his greatness.
Thanks for stepping up the comedy Bangsy. If its always like it was today, I may start listening more often.

What I don't understand is how Max Smith can be so amazing and yet he couldn't beat out Morgan Newton last year and wouldn't have played a down all season if Newton hadn't gotten injured. I also don't get how their DL is going to be so good after our miserable OL dominated them last year. Didn't we average something like 5 yards per carry in our game last season?

That's so cute, I love hearing the "it will be close" thing. Even allowed a moral victory for yourselves too, with the "win-win" thing. That's just precious.
Our O-line, which was horrible the beginning of last season, allowed us to rush for 5 yds per carry against that defense that was better last year than it will be this year. Teddy and his targets are all sharper, and more comfortable in this offense, and against a weak secondary that is going to spell disaster for UK. Not to mention UK's 117th ranked scoring O versus our top 25 scoring D from last season - both bring the majority of the players back from both squads. Another mismatch. There are mismatches literally everywhere, yet it will be closer than we think. lol, UK fans.

Keep clinging to stats from last year in a season where our OL was never healthy and our best DL missed significant time if it calms your nerves. We have nothing to lose. We're the underdog on the road with a lame duck coach. Kind of like you guys in Krag's last season.
As far as moral victories..lmao. I don't want a moral victory. We either win or we don't. Moral victories only increase the chance Joke is retained. He needs to win 6 or pack his bags. Moral victories are for UL fans in the FF.
Max and his targets also got better as the year went along. Just like "money ball" Bridgewater, Max was a FR playing his 1st minutes and he improved nicely until he got hurt. But more importantly, our OL is healthy and they are projected to be really solid. Last year, we had a make shift OL that never become cohesive due to injuries. That, in itself, will improve the offense a ton.
Finally, keep telling yourself there are mismatches everywhere. Keep thinking that UK and UL's talent gap is huge. Keep thinking that UK is supposed to be afraid of the defense that got run by NC State and an offense that couldn't score worth a crap against UNC.
Truth be told, the talent is pretty even as of now. You've recruited a little better than UK (not a lot like you knuckleheads would assume) but we had better recruiting during the Krag era so it evens out.

The OL and DL were going to be strengths going to into last season. However, injuries, etc. decimated both (really killed the OL) prior to the UL game and they were never right all season. With most of the guys coming back and healthy, we'll be a better team. Games are won in the trenches. You can't run or pass if you can't block. We'll block a lot better this year and our DL will be the strength of the defense.
The game will be close. UL should win but UK will hold their own on both lines and we'll be able to move the ball against you guys. Same with hold true for UL. The wildcard will be Bridgewater and if he can accurately pass the ball. Our secondary will be our weakenss and if "Bought and paid for by Cash Money Hurrt" is on target, it will hard to overcome.
It's a win/win for us. Lose this game and Joke is gone. Win this game, we point and laugh.

Any UofK fan saying their O-line will be better this year really has no clue about their own football program. Let me post the O-line roster. Tell me, who is going to be blocking? Thin doesn't even being to explain it.

Oh, I see, your OL & DL were decimated but ours were full strength. I get it.
I guess you conveniently forgot that due to injuries we started THREE FRESHMAN on our Line most of last season and that our Junior Center only played in half the games.
I guess you also forgot about the rash of injuries that we had on the DL. Scruggs played a half a season, Philon was out for several games, as was Brandon Dunn. BJ Butler nursed an injury and missed several games last season.
Dude, get a grip. There are TWO TEAMS out there. Not one.

I have no idea about your OL and DL prior to the UK. However, I know ours was in bad shape and never rebounded. That had a lot to do with what happened last year and why our offense was stagnant. Those guys are back and totally healthy this year. We'll have a much better OL and DL than last year in this game. Maybe you guys will too. Regardless, we couldn't block Trinity and your crappy *decimated* FR OL ran for 5 yards per carry last year. We'll be much better this time around.
Will we win? I doubt it but it will be a close game. You guys are not that much better than UK and the talent level is on a similar level.
Like I said, I have no problem with the fact that UL is favored and should win. The only problem I have is acting like UL is the Pittsburgh Steelers when in reality you're a decent BE team.
