Whoa! Herbstreit just said ...

  • that UofL, with Teddy Bridewater's performance inthe Sugar Bowl, would probably start near the top five!!

  • Yep, Herbie finally comes through for us. That was a really, really nice plug. Think of all our recruits sitting at home that just heard that.

Exactly. It's just damage control on his part. CardNation has really lit into his ass on twitter since his last ignorant statement. We don't need that jackass to tell us how good the Cards will be. We already know.

  • What Herbie doesn't realize is we're currently building a top 10 program beyond Teddy. The talent level is rising at all positions. We're getting deeper. We're getting faster. We're getting STRONGer!!!

That was a makeup call for his prediction and animous on Jan 2 night before our game

  • BrainS stole exactly what I was going to say. Herbie 100% is doing damage control here. He bashed us all season long and didn't even give us a shot to break a double-digit loss with the gators. He actually laughed at how he thought UF would roll us. Him and Pollack both gave us no love and pretty much said Teddy would get shut down.

    Screw kirk turdstreak!

We need no praise from him!

Although the turd dog sandwiches he's devouring are rather sweet, you have to admit.

Amen.... he slurps the flavor of the month. Doesn't make up for the downright disrespect he spouted before the game.

  • One can either think what Herbie says is valid or not valid. Given his history of exhibiting his ignorance, there's absolutely no reason to think what he says now, in true kiss-ass fashion, holds any validity. He's just another pretty boy talking head.
You can't accept what he says when it's in your favor and reject it when it's not.
You can also bet that when next season rolls around, he'll probably be singing a totally different tune.

  • Wow, sometimes our fan base is just a little too thin-skinned. I wasn't happy about him basically laughing at us when discussing the Sugar Bowl, but our team showed him just what they are made of, and he is beginning to see it as well, and therefore he sees good things for us next year.

Our fans are always complaining that we never get enough respect, and yet here we have one of the biggest talking heads giving us props going into next year and still it's not enough. Our fans need to realize college football is a process, and we are still trying to get into the Big Boys Club that is college football. It's going to take time and it's going to take talking heads like Herbstreit coming to grips with it.

Having Coach Strong turn down an offer from UT and then us whipping the gators in the Sugar Bowl, now that is head-turning material, and obviously it had an impact on Herbstreit, and it will be good to have him in our corner next year because he gets a lot of airtime.

And for those saying we aren't just Teddy and a bunch of other guys, that may be true to some extent, but let's be honest. Until we fully load our cupboard with two-deep top-to-bottom talent, we WILL be riding Teddy's coattails next season. Without Teddy Bridgewater this year we are probably no better than 30th in the country. Maybe. Now we have some high-quality QB's coming in, but we aren't there yet and we can't afford to have Teddy injured next year because of the youth that will be the second-string. We're getting there but we aren't there yet.

I actually felt bad for Golston last night when Herbie picked him to have a "great game". That sealed the deal for the Bama win right there.

  • Cardinal Express, "riding Teddy" is not some accident of Nature. This is a designed team, made better by recognition of the talent. Teddy is us - he is not some alien force. He has developed in a system made larger by Watson and Coach Strong who stayed somewhat out of their way. We probably - or hopefully, may - have a Perfect Storm brewing.

One thing is sure - no one is NOT getting better. That should scare the bejeesus out of everybody if they have a brain.

Herbstriet's diss - his effort at aggrandized humiliation of the Cards - needs addressing. The real question you intended to ask was has he heard it enough yet.

Some don't think so. That's their real opinion, too. Frankly, seeing him 'come around' - if that's what's happening - works to lessen the sting. But what he did was lame as hell.

I still won't pay them no mind but it is nice to be "considered" now instead of the opposite.

No, it's not an accident of Nature, but it is a reality. And there is nothing wrong with that. Auburn rode Newton's coattails all the way to a championship.

And there is no doubt that Watson and Co deserve a lot of the credit. Also there is no doubt if our defense had not come to play that we wouldn't have won the SB, but in the end, the difference for us RIGHT NOW between being a Top 10 team versus a Top 30 is TB, pure and simple.

We cannot hope to make it where we want without hype men so just sit back and know that we were all on this train when it left the station, not just after it ran over some measly gators.

Completely agree, and probably understated in regards to our team. That is one of the things that was talked about regarding Florida during the SB broadcast was their lack of go-to receivers. Well that sure as hell is NOT a problem for TB. Our receivers made some GREAT catches during the game, including the thread-the-needle catch by Rogers on our first third down play from scrimmage, to Parker's touchdown catch, and that was a great catch, but Parker has a way of just making them look routine, which is a testament to his skills.

And now we add the Florida transfers and of course Quick and our receiving corp is approaching off-the-charts talent. Wow we are going to be fun to watch next year.

  • His opinion means absolutely nothing. Good or bad. He lost all credibilty with his comments before the Sugar Bowl and the way he expressed those comments. Just because he is saying something nice now doesn't make up for that.
