Tomorrow

  • How will our fans react tomorrow when the last SEC job is filled and Coach Strong is still our coach? Will they believe him when he says he never interviewed? Will they believe him when he says our fans have to respect this program?

I for one believe him and will stand behind him.

  • No. This is been a total clusterphuck by CCS. I don't know what he has been or is trying to accomplish, but so far all he's done is piss off the UofL fan base. I am and always will be a UofL fan. That means that as long as CCS is our head coach, I'll wish him well. But like a cheating girl friend, you know if it happened once, it's likely going to happen again. Loyalty is two-way street. If he stays, and gets that big raise he seems to be angling for, I, for one, will expect him to earn it. That means beating the living snot out of UK whenever possible and not losing to the likes of Syracuse and UConn. You want fans like Florida Charlie? Then win like Florida.

  • I hope he is gone one way or the other. You don't let an employee berate you as an employer, and you don't let them keep working until one of your competitors can make a better offer. College football is a business, and successful companies don't beg malcontent employees to stay.... They fire them.

I'm with you. I hope he gets up at the podium after beating Floridas ass and tells all these negative nellys to kiss his ass. The man has done nothing but bust his ass for this city and program and these guys are trying their best to make sure he takes a different job just so they can feel better about themselves and their fball insider genius. Its sickening if you ask me.

  • For me, it the whole bashing of the fan base that will always stick whether he stays or not. Last time I checked, all sports at UL are the product of fan support and administrative vision. We are not privy to the vast state funds some colleges rely on. We are first and foremost a fan oriented program. And to compare us to UK, or any other state leading university simply, diminishes the support and love the fan have shown in building this program to what it has become.

I'm not pissed off, but I do find your cheating girlfriend comparison quite appropriate (although not for the same reasons you do).

The only way this will happen is if he is not offered the job.

If you really believe Strong did not interview with TN you are delusional.

His comments cost him more fan support.

The bad thing about this is that the team is closer to being like Florida than the fan support is....but that's just due to the history and tradition Florida has had for so many more years than U of L.

  • No I will think UT never offered him the job.

Yes, if you want a Florida-like fan base, win like Florida. Funny, when some of these programs slump, it's easier to get a seat there, too. If he hangs around, he might see a pretty good indicator of how the Card faithful congregate when we bring a sizable base to NOLA.

I beg to disagree. This team is still young. The program is still in rehab. This is not a Florida like team. If we win, it will be a major upset. I am going as well as the other 40K faithfulbiggrin but am bracing myself on what this could look like before we reach the 4th quarter.

I will be in NOLA but will not set myself up for disappointment. Ville fans will represent the University in fine fashion, maybe FL like.

This is so true, and also so ignored by everyone making the comparison to us. Bama is going for two straight national titles. The Bama fans are off the chain. DUH.

Yes, but this girlfriend has not cheat on us yet ? Correct. Why hold this girlfriend responsible for how we have been treated by other girlfriends and the level of trust ?

  • Lets say he did interview. We get so pissed off that our coach is being sought after by SEC programs. This is not a bad thing. It means our team is good. I never once heard Krags name mentioned with a SEC job. At this point, NO ONE other than Charlie Strong, TJ, and TN Ad Dave Hart know what is going on. I've read most of the articles, and none of them have confirmed any interviews with any of the 3 I mentioned. We may not ever know 100% if he did or did not. It's easier to believe the masses. The fact is, as of 8:45 Wednesday morning Charlie Strong is our coach.

At what point do we look at ourselves. It's kinda like if a guy continues to be dumped by girls and never says, what can i do better. The funny thing is, Charlie is telling us what we need to do. While I dont like the fact that he mentioned BBN, facts are facts. You ask ANY team in the SEC who has the craziest fans and they will say UK (possibly Bama). While it sucks that that is true about our #1 rival, its true. Crucify me all you want, but get out from under your rock. WE gotta do better at filling up the FOOTBALL stadium. WE gotta do better at traveling to away games. Make our presence known, CARDNATION must take over. That's what he wants. That's what any coach wants. That's what our players want. He was pissed at what these seniors and persevered through to get to 9-0 or 9-1 and we cant even fill up a 55,000 seat stadium at noon on a Saturday to show our gratitude. We are CardNation, we know how much we love our team. All he asking is to show it on game day.

    cardsron

  • I'm on the Charlie Train already, but he should offer an apology to the fans for any disrespect he may have shown them during the press conference. As long as the coach keeps bringing in top recruits, winning games and acting grateful that he has the best job in the country then all is forgiven. Jump back aboard that big train headed to the Sugar Bowl and give Charlie and the team all your support.

peace We're becoming a destination job and I hope Charlie retires after a long and successful career at UofL with at least one national chamionship. Go Cards!

You're going to have to explain that one to me.

More often than not, a cheating girlfriend has a boyfriend that is constantly whining and b!tching and tends to play a part in pushing her away (whether he realizes it or not). It can be a self fulfilling prophecy.

  • I sat many games as a kid in the 80's in old cardinal stadium with maybe 10,000 people there to watch Cardinal Football. I could never imagine a Sugar Bowl nor a coach that would choose UofL over tenn. This program has jumped leaps and bounds over the past 25 years and will continue to rise. I have no problem with Charlie demanding more from the fans as we can demand more from him such as not losing at home to uconn. I only have a problem with the puke comment. But we all say stupid things at times and would take things back. If Charlie turns down tenn and gets in front of this by saying he chooses to stay before tenn announces their new coach, then that stupid comment will be both forgiven and forgotten in my book.

People who want to leave, don't challenge the program. They smile and say all is good while they sign a contract with someone else. I could be wrong on all of this, but I feel that Charlie stays and continues to build the program. We as fans respond to Charlie's request and Charlie keeps developing as a head coach to push the program past losses to teams like uconn, fiu, marshall, etc...

Here's the scenarios and results in my view:
    1) Best Case: He declines tn and stays in front of the story
    2) He accepts tenn. We are burnt yet again and everything charlie said about "not cut like that" is a total lie. We never forget/forgive the press conference and we move on.
    3) Worst Case: He does not get in front of the story. Looks like he is runner up at tenn. And we feel stuck with a coach that does not want to be here. We are still mad about the press conference. That would not go well for the program.
