My guess would be this has more to do with instate recruiting then anything.

If WKU sets up a succession plan with Brohm replacing Petrino, do it. I could see Jeff finally giving WKU some stability at the HC position and turning them into a solid program every year eventually. Win-win for all involved.

According to this recently authored news update there is speculation but nothing official. I would say that once the Big East folds, WKU will stay in the Sun Belt. After 1-2 years, they will wind up in the MAC or C-USA.

Not sure how much more Brohm is going to learn from BP than he has already. And at UAB, he's coaching for BP's former Arkansas OC/QB coach...who also played a year under Schnellenberger at OU (not that Brohm is likely to learn anything from him, either, since Brohm played under Schnellie as well).

But the setup is certainly there if BP left WKU for Brohm to get a shot at HC if/when BP leaves. I don't know how good of a fit he is for it, though.

And the speculation WKU jumps to CUSA is just that, speculation. They haven't even proven they can win the Sun Belt yet, not sure why they think they can jump up already
