  • Possible, but I doubt. Was searching the Acc boards last night and a lot of the north schools hated the idea because most of there recruiting comes from the south. How many out of division games will we play per year ?

  • HATE.... we want FSU and CLEMSON in our division, not those teams in the north. That would blow. It would be harder to win the league but we need the recruiting boost that playing those games would bring, having a game in SC or FL every year. Miami still gets us in FL but that's every other year.

Trade SC with VA. Not a big deal imo.

  • So I wonder who our cross divisional rival would be? Clemson? NC St? Gtech?

This! I want to play FSU every year, along with Clemson. To be the best you have to beat the best. VPI appears to possibly be on it's way down, but I want that FSU game every year.

  • Personally, I would LOVE ANY Setup as long as we are in the ACC!!!clap

But whether coastal or atlantic doesn't really matter to me because there are JUICY nugget on both sides!!!!!biggrin
Having games with Florida St. and Clemson would ROCK, but so would having games against Virginia Tech and Miami!!!! So in either situation us Cardinal fans are the WINNERS!!

  • So our cross is apparently Clemson and we still share a division with Miami/VT. Not sad one bit.

Yeah but with the way we recruit the Miami area. We would have a guaranteed game in their hometown.

It depends on if they redo the crossover rivals as well. If it is just a straight Louisville/GTech swap, then we'd still have Clemson as our cross-divisional rivalry. Miami/Clemson might not be as great as FSU/Clemson but I doubt anyone could seriously say that it would "blow".

If it is a Louisville/GTech swap AND different cross divisional rivalries, then it looks like Louisville would be matched with BC and VTech would get Clemson. If that were to happen, I think it is fair to say that it would be somewhat disappointing from a UofL perspective (FSU/Clemson is better than Miami/BC). With that said, I'd still be pumped for games with Pitt, VTech, UNC, Miami (all of which are a tremendous upgrade over what we will see this year).

im with you on this, we still get such a better schedule in either scenario. its great to be headed to the ACC!

UofL recruits Miami heavily....this works out well especially if everything works out for Coach Hurtt and he stays. This plus a cross rival of Clemson maybe....oh my....

  • Keep Clemson as the croos division and all is good - and we get FSU in the CCG! I'm happy.
Game in Miami every year (Schedule FIU or FAU in the off years), + playing there in the Orange bowl when we are not in the NNC, our players get to play in their home area, life is good.

We get Clemson I can live with it.... if we get BC I will be a little disappointed. If we could have Miami, VT, Clemson every year, FSU every 6 years with the rotating game and with a shot at FSU or Clemson rematch in the CCG I would be a happy man. Regardless its better than UCF, Memphis, Temple, and better than WVU, Rutgers, Cincy for that matter. If we could get Cincy, keep our FIU game to make sure we play in Miami every year, and UK, and another paycheck game it would be a good schedule.

They'll be a full member for every sports outside of football. Currently, the ACC only has divisions for baseball and football. After 2014, baseball will expand from 12 teams with two divisions to 14 teams with two divisions (Maryland leaves and Pitt, UofL, ND join). Basketball will be at 15 teams and is not expected to have divisions either.

Shew thank goodness. The current setup is freaking sweet for UofL. That said I will be happy with almost anything.

  • Uhhhh, we are looking at Syracuse, UCONN, FIU, Ohio, Temple and others right now. Any ACC line up looks great to me.

And one other thing, we may not want to be in the same division as FSU and Clemson, as it may be more difficult to get to the conference championship. Something to think about.

Not to say we could not beat them, but, to beat them in regular season, when division, and then win the conference championship would be more difficult.

    DaVille

  • If UofL stays in the Atlantic Division, based on google maps, the shortest distance opponent in that division would be Clemson from Louisville. Beating out Wake Forest by 19 miles.

You are correct in that it would be more difficult, but the argument could be made that we will need a lot of "difficult" games to help our chances of reaching the playoff.

The SEC is going to get 2 in at LEAST every other year. That only leaves two spots most years to fight over... It could be said that we may need to have as high a SOS as possible to compete with a Big XII, B1G or PAC-12 champ for those two spots. Additionally, I would think that the easier the schedule, the greater the likelihood we would have to go undefeated to get playoff consideration. I think a one loss PAC-12, B1G, or Big XII team gets in over a one-loss ACC team unless said ACC team can boast a comparable schedule...

  • I'd rather be in the easier division and get to the ACC Championship, then we can play FSU/Clemson in that.
