lets stop bashing our brethren. people from UT were saying someone was up here earlier today. Whether you want to believe it or not, this one looks to be true. Now we just have trust Charlie when he says he doesnt want to leave. This could have been something that was set up before the changes to our current conference situation. While it sucks that our coach is interviewing with other schools. Jurich just got us in the ACC, Im pretty sure he can sell a football program with the best QB in the nation for the next years and a spot in the ACC. #InJurichWeTrust
Actually NKYcard is not far off....He may not have gone to TN but they may have come here. He did interview. Volquest confirmed it.
Man, this whole thing is just out of control with its blood pressure raising moments.
My take, for what its worth. Strong is going to stay here....at least til Teddy graduates. I really believe that.
I also believe a lot of teams want him and it is in his interest to listen to what they say. UT, AU, Arkansas, Purdue, hell, everyone is going to send someone out to talk to him and he is going to politely listen. He has an agent, advisors, people that tell him what to do and what not to do as far as his best interests. He cannot just blow people off or say I'm going to coach at UofL til the day I die, it would be stupid for him to do so, even if that were his intention.
I have no doubt UT wants him to be a candidate and be open to an interview. I have no doubt if contacted Strong would listen to their offer and have an informal conversation. Tom Jurich knows this, I'm sure people come and talk to Jurich and offer him AD jobs, just like people covet Charlie, people covet Tom...hell, I imagine schools that want them both as a package.
There are going to be a lot of these moments and it all comes down to having faith that Charlie wants to be here. Such is success and we just have to deal with it. I would rather worry about Charlie than have a Krap that no one wants.
Score of that volleyball game?
Even those who arrange and design shrubberies are under considerable economic stress in this period in history.
its true he did meet with them
Well, the UT AD is Dave Hart, who has lots of connections here being that he was an assistant AD at one time. No doubt that he would have contacted TJ first.. . Hart is doing the search on his own and not using a search firm.
That is interesting news. It's one thing to answer the phone and say "keep talking, I will listen, and then tell you I am not interested". It's a bit different to express enough interest to where someone actually comes to town for what would appear to be an interview in person.

FWIW, my in-laws live in Nashville and they told me 2 or 3 weeks ago Strong was a pretty big candidate. So this really isnt that big of a surprise.
Maybe he was talking an assistant, or getting Strong or Tom's ideas? There could be more than one scenario.
Volquest confirmed it? What does that really mean? AL.com said Strong interviewed with Auburn... So I'll take all this with a grain of salt.

Which means that this one won't get the search firm smokescreen that we saw with Auburn. It is a given that TJ knows that Charlie has a wandering heart. If he makes a move, I hope he does it quickly so that we aren't stuck with less available candidates after other known schools fill their vacancies.
For those interested in Petrino, I suppose the sooner the better if he would be a candidate.
Exactly. I guess it's hard not to assume that Charlie is the one being interviewed for jobs, but it is possible that these schools are inquiring about an assistant or two. Let's hold off on judgments for now. Good thought PLLS.
At the risk of sounding naïve, I just don't think he's leaving guys, I really don't. I think we are misinterpreting all of this and are all nervous because of what Petrino did to us.
You have to know that he was totally out the door before the ACC came calling earlier in the week, correct? Let's just kinda toss that one out there so that we can create a baseline for discussion.
No, we don't 'know' that. We can assume, we can guess, but I don't necessarily agree with that statement. Do I think long term in the BE would have caused him to abandon ship, yes, I do. But that doesn't mean it was going to be this year.
Even if we were stuck in the BE, I don't think CCS leaves before Teddy leaves.
Not every career you get to coach a future Pro Bowl QB.
Nor coach a heisman candidate and a pretty good group next year to make a run at a nc. Tennessee still got work to do. They have Bray but he still may go into the draft even Strong goes there.

I got absolutely hammered for letting everyone know that Arkansas had contacted Strong about the head coaching job. But that was before we lost a game. I guess everyone is warmed up to the idea now.
Like PLLS, I'm thinking this is a leveraging move. And if so, I'm ok with it. If not, well, we'll have to deal with it.

Agreed. If Les Miles can do it at LSU of all places, then I have no problem with Charlie doing it as well.
Heh, that LSU to Arky was quite a coup.
Not to sound like a full blown idiot, but dont Teams have to interview a minority candidate to be in compiance? I heard or read that once? Could Strong be a pawn in a stupid game of affirmative action?
This is what I am thinking. TJ put himself in a position when he publicly stated he would match any offer. Charlie just now has to find an offer for TJ to match.
Like Tan said, I don't think CCS leaves before Teddy but that shouldn't stop CCS from finding an offer and getting himself a raise.
