And win next Thursday, we still lose the conference... to Syracuse. Right?
good question. Not sure.
Overtime now though.

I don't get where the commentator is calling for a 4-way tie. Either us or Rutgers will lose Thursday, so 3-way tie at most. But IF we win Thursday and Cincy loses to UConn, does Syracuse really end up repping the Big East in the BCS?
Isn't whoever has the highest BCS rank?
I think if it's just Syracuse and us at 5-2, they go to head-to-head no?
Also, are we sure any Big East team will be in the final BCS rankings? What happens if there are no ranked Big East teams?
Rutgers beat Syracuse, so if Cincy loses and we win, the three teams (us, Rutgers and Syracuse) would be 1-1 against each other. In that case, they take the highest BCS-ranked team. I'd suspect that would be us, but who really knows.
Really? Syracuse in a BCS game?
We look like a team that would get run out of a BCS game right now. I'm perplexed and disappointed in the effort today.
Beatles, Bill Withers, Citizen Cope, Jim James, Levon Helm, Lupe Fiasco, Waylon, Beastie Boys, Pink Floyd, Paul Westerberg, V-roys
Wouldn't Rutgers, UofL, and Syracuse all be 1-1 in that mini conference? In that case, it goes to highest ranked, but none would probably be ranked.
Not necessarily. If we beat Rutgers, there will be a three way tie at the top at 5-2. Head to head results would be meaningless because all three teams would be 1-1 against the other two (Rutgers beat Syr., Syr. beat us, we would have been Rutgers). Thus, it would go to the higher ranked BCS team. That's why it is a defacto champ. game on Thursday. No way Syracuse is ranked higher than either us or Rutgers with 5 losses, and whoever wins on Thursday will be ranked higher in the BCS at the end. Of course, none of this matters if Rutgers wins.
I am TheContractor from TOS2. Accept no substitutes...
This is correct, Syracuse isn't going to the BCS game.
It's us, Rutgers...Or Cincy if they somehow jump both in the BCS standings.
The rankings go beyond 25 LOL If we beat Rutgers most likely it would be us with a bigger win and helping our ranking unless us beating them does not make us rank higher. We could win and still be left out. Depends on the ranking system saying WHO's loss was worse.

It is possible that none of us would be ranked in the top 25, but don't they rank them further down than that (they just don't show rankings below 25)?
Fair enough. But what if none of Rutgers/Syracuse/Louisville are ranked in the BCS? It's supposed to go to ranking, but I struggle to believe any of the teams will be in the final BCS rankings... unless the thing goes beyond the Top 25 and the conference would use that.
I can't decide what would be more embarrassing. Explaining that someone is going to a BCS game because they were ranked 34th in the BCS standings. Syracuse somehow winding up representing the conference. Or us going and potentially getting our shizz pushed in.
OK, I am pissed off right now but please tell me why we should be rated higher right now than Syracuse in the polls. We have lost two straight while Syracuse has won three straight. They lost by one by a good Northwestern team, was in the game until the end with USC, beat Missouri a week ago while we have looked like complete crap.
If I was an outsider I don't know how I could put U of L ahead of Syracuse right now. They have played a much tougher schedule.
I would rather enjoy the New Year in South Beach and lose, then for Syracuse to make a BCS game.
A win over Rutgers now, since they lost today, isn't going to be near as impressive. I can easily see the polsters ranking Syracuse over us and we probably couldn't bitch too much with the way we have played the last two games.
If we beat Rutgers and Cinci beats UConn it will be a 4-way tie (Lou,Rut,Cuse, CInci)
With a 2-1 record in the 'mini-conference' and Rutgers also having a 2-1 record while the others are both 1-2 it then goes to H2H between the tied teams
... so Louisville wins the conference in a 4-way tie
the 3-way tie goes to highest bcs ranking. A win over Rutgers should get us back in the top 25
Wrong, a win over Rutgers, who lost today, is NOT going to get Louisville back into the Top 25 no matter how impressive the win.
bcs top 25, not polls. I think a 10-2 team would have a pretty good shot at cracking the bcs top 25, but more importantly Rutgers would certainly not be in the top 25 after back to back losses.
Ummm pretty sure our special teams held their own tonight but as for the players, I can't recall being more dissappointed, Teddy is a soldier and idc what he does for the rest of his life that man has my respect forever, cnt say the same for ummm...anybody else on the team...maybe devante but nobody else deserves it, our o line got Teddy killed, they need a long look in the mirror, this type of game is not about talent, its about the fire and passion, of who wants this thing more and who is willing to lay it all out for those last yards, as we found out, we have been weighed, we have been measured, and we have been found wanting
The win over Rutgers did get us back in the top 25 , easily.
