They get screwed over by coaches even more than us.
If you want the true definition of steppingstone job, turn your eyes to Cincinnati. Mark Dantonio left after three seasons for Michigan State. Bria
One thing is for sure IMO, their next coach hire could be one of the most important decisions ever made in their football program's history. I know it's all about TV screens (blah, blah blah), but having a Kragthorpean dip could be the worst thing to happen to them right now.
Funny, I was just over on USF site congratulating them about Taggart and thought about Cincy and how important it is to make another good hire. Probably pluck someone from the MAC again.
I feel bad for them too, we know what it feels like, we know what the sickening feeling of watching our coach (whom we loved, supported and put our faith in), smile and shake hands and hob knob with his new school.
I feel mostly for the players, it just doesn't seem right coaches can leave at a moments notice, but these kids are practically stuck at these schools and if they do wish to leave, they forfeit 1/4th of their eligibility.
Think about that, if where you worked, your boss was free to take other jobs without any repercussions, yet if you decided to leave, you had to forfeit the ability to work for 3 months out of year or 25% of your years you were able to work...it's just not fair,
Seems they do know how to pick them, just not keep them.

The timing is especially brutal since a lot of good coaches (Kent St, NIU, ...) have already been snapped up.
I would only wish this problem on UK. The system sucks.
They got Tommy Tubberville, they did fine with their replacement.
"Get on board, or get out the way"- Vance Bedford
Really??!!! Wow, that is a good hire...what happened to him at Texas Tech?
Not sure all of their coaches combined screwed them over more than Charlie's predecessor screwed us over.
He left us a Waffle House menu. Russ Smith appreciates it.
These are exciting times to be a Card fan. Tell everybody you know, it's Cardinal time! Go Cards!!!

It only sucks for kids who make decisions based on coach rather than program and university. It should be a factor but not the factor.
They're taking a gamble that the head coach, position coach, coordinator, etc, is going to be there for their entire college experience.
