Oh I wasn't aware of Charlie Strongs new contract.... OK so Mark Stoops contract isn't similar to Charlie Strong's new contract. Mark Stoops is getting paid $11 Million over 5 years with incentives of about $1Million more per year then an endorsement deal on top of that which I don't know how much that is. So for Stoops that like $2.2 Million a year and then incentives can take it to $3.2 Million per year and then endorsements on top of that would increase it even more. I see that Charlie Strong's new contract is $3.7 Million. That's probably before incentives as well so he could make over $4Million a year which Stoops would not be making.
Personally if Mark Stoops is a hit at UK I hope that UK doesn't have to pay him that much to make him stay. I want them to fairly compensate him and pay him well to stay, but I don't aspire to have my coach be the highest paid coach. I hate it that we've got to pay John Calipari as much as we do while the School President has led the University into a budget crisis and had to lay off workers... Just doesn't seem right but that's the world we live in.
I missed your response Bezzle - any ideas on a wager - I'm game. Kind of hard to exchange money on a message board. Whatever you want to do though. Give me some ideas. Hatcher to Kentucky.
Anyone want to chime in on ideas for our wager? Maybe we can let the rest of ITV decide what the stakes should be.
You made the statement... get a link and back it up. prove what you are saying is true.
BUT just from my head if they are getting 500k then they are no where near the top of the college football or even the SEC. If I remember correctly the D guys at LSU, Bama, LSU, Ga and Tenn all make around 800 to 900 K so.... if they are the #2 in pay they are getting far more than 500k or they are not in the top two.
Read what I said NEAR the bottom, I said that because I do not know what Stoops is getting but I am thinking as of last year Joker was the lowest paid the only one we were not sure of was Vandy since they don't publish the pay there.
Bezzle wins, DiamondCard dons a Uk signature pic for at least 2 months. DC wins, bezzle has a Jason Hatcher sig pic with his UK hat instead of charlie. i think thats pretty fair.
In a city full of Bluenecks, I still bleed RED!!!
2 months?! I could do 30 days, that seems fair.
Can I have part of that friendly wager on Hatcher being a Cat?
(scratches head) UMMM, What?!?!
So what you are saying is that the coordinators at Uk are getting paid more than the head coach?
Stoops base salary is $400,000 per year and runs for 5 years.

30 days it is. agreed?
Is anybody on here sure that Diamond card is a Cards fan? If not, he will jump at the offer.
Yep I'm a Cards fan. Offer sounds good to me.
What if hatcher stays with USC? Neither card nor cat.
My bet was UofL/USC, his bet was UK.
It's both true and false that UK's new coordinators have a higher salary than Stoops . The way UK structures contracts for their head coaches (Calipari, Stoops, and Matthew Mitchell) is that they have a base salary paid by the University. In this case $400,000 dollars. The other guaranteed portion of Stoops' contract (as are Calipari's and Mitchell's) is paid by the media and endorsements that the athletic department pays. In this case starting at 1.6M and increasing by 100K a year. Both DJ Elliott's and Neil Brown 's salaries are paid by the school. Both in excess of $500,000 and paid by the University. So yes, their University paid salary is higher than Stoops, but total compensation is not.
The University of Kentucky has significantly increased the salaries of the top two assistants on new football coach Mark Stoops staff over what their predecessors were making.

I'm seeing on twitter that he has re-committed to USC.
So Stoops is getting around 2.2 Million. How is that even remotely close to Strong?
"The new UK head man will earn around $2.2 million a season,"
Strong is at 3.7M base salary. Not even in the same ballpark.
The difference is CS has proven to be a winner and proven he can compete with the top of the SEC. Stoops has proven nothing. He cannot even prove he can stop Florida offense since his FL ST defense was man handled by Florida.
Stoops will be out of a job in 3 ot 4 years and the same UK fans drinking his bath water today will be calling for his head...just like the last 60+ years.
1000% agreed Cardland
Well Diamond looks like Bezzle won. Deiner says he recommitted to USC.
Your 95% source was wrong.
Yeah I was wrong on the salary deal. Mark Stoops gets $2.2Million but can earn an extra $1Million in incentives. I didn't realize that Charlie Strong got a new contract worth $3.7Million. Anyhow salary has no bearings on how good a coach is.... I don't aspire to have the most overpaid Head Coach. Just the best coach who is fairly compensated for his performance. You also have to understand that Charlie Strong has proved that he can win at Louisville. Mark Stoops hasn't proved anything yet. If he proves that he can when then you'll see him with a new contract.
On predicting what Mark Stoops is able to do at UK will remain to be seen. I'm not going to make any predictions. People seem to think that he won't be good because his defense didn't stop Florida but they fail to realize that Florida has one of the best RBs in the SEC and not too many people if anybody stopped him in the SEC. So sounds like to me in terms of Florida Stoops fits in with everyone else in the SEC. Louisville really didn't have to worry about stopping him because Florida tried to pass the ball on you guys which is something that they hadn't been able to do all season long.
Looks like Jason Hatcher has recommitted to USC per article on USC's rivals site.
A bet is a bet. I will happily oblige our wager, win or lose. I still believe he is a Cayut at the end of the day. This is the first bet in my lifetime that I actually hope I lose.
The alternative is that UK catches lightning in a jar...in which case Stoops moves on to greener pastures in a year or two and leaves them back at square one.
I'm surprised uk coughed up that much dough for him. It wasn't like everyone was hot for him, because if they were he wouldn't have settled for uk.
