And nothing has changed. The only time they get a commit out of a dude with 4 stars is when they are a juco or an academic situation where others haven't offered
At this point it's becoming ridiculous. It's clear he has 3 choices.
1. Become a hometown hero
2. Get buried in a depth chart
3. Start/play early, but get smacked on a regular basis.
I would seriously question his lack of motivation if he chose UK over us or USC. Hell, at least if he chooses USC he knows he is gonna have to work to beat out the other 4 and 5 stars. With us, the same but I think it would be a little easier to get PT....he could probably start for UK. That being said, if he is one of those kids who dosent wanna work to prove himself, he dosent belong on our team. I want kids who wanna be here, mentally and physcially.
In a city full of Bluenecks, I still bleed RED!!!
I hope I AM wrong Cory. But this info came from someone that has been in on this for quite awhile and is correct with his info 95% of the time. The fact is, Hatcher verballed to Strong in San Antonio after the Army All-American game. Fat boy Stoops got Hatcher to visit and promised him that he would be a starter next season. Strong and Bedford refused to promise Hatcher anything, as any coach with a rational head would not either. Hell even Bridgewater was not promised anything. Now, could Hatcher change his mind before NSD? Sure he could - but as of right now he is going to UK. Hence the fact that he is not even visiting us at all - first it was reported that he was going to visit this weekend with Montgomery instead of Feb. 2nd and then he cancelled it and is not speaking to our coaches at the moment.
And let me also add that Hatcher is visiting UK again right now. After he visited them last week he is back in Lexington this weekend with Timmons.

I don't even understand how uk is even in the mix with this kid? Seriously you've got all of these big time schools after you so how are you even considering this bottom dweller uk program whose claim to fame is making a couple of Music City bowls in the last 20 years. Seriously, the bottom place team in the SEC EVERY single year. I mean this kid has some big time programs after him, he can go to USC if he wants.
Why would uk even be on his list? I am just baffled as to why any good player would ever go there.................EVER.
If he doesn't go to UL then I hope he just stays with USC.
I am going to give Hatcher the benefit of the doubt and trust that he has more ambition than to be playing for UK. I just don't see that possibly occurring. I ain't buying it.
Nothing against you, but I just find this funny that you point out that your source has been right "95% of the time.". Not every time, not sometimes, not half the time. 95% of the time.
Okay my bad. I certainly don't keep statistics on how often 'my source' is right or wrong. Let's just say he is ON THE MONEY with this. And to the poster who questioned why Hatcher would go to UK over USC and any other major program - because Stoops is the only coach who will promise him he will be a starter from the time he steps onto campus. Even though he is promised a starting job I still really don't understand why he would want to go there - the only other thing that I can possibly imagine is that he convinced his mom that if she didn't want him to go all the way out west then he is going to UK just to get away from Louisville. Like I said, I'm not the source and always take what another poster or insider says with a grain of salt but this person and I have communicated back and forth just about everyday for the past month and he has been spot on with everything - when I say everything I include Quick, Calloway, Benjamin, Meadows etc.
If Hatcher is kind of player that picks a college based on where he is guaranteed playing time, I think Cards will be just fine without him. Those kids typically don't pan out anyway. Success is something that can never be "give."
I'm not a troll. I hold my degree from Louisville and am a former student-athlete.
Kinda makes sense that he would go to uk if their guaranteeing him that he will start. We have to realize these aren't stoops players so he can tell hatcher and kearns they are going to start. We already know Strong isn't guaranteeing him s starting spot which I respect. We just have to move on and we will be fine.
Of course we haven't offered Timmons, but I heard that osu just did.....like hatcher, if tue, he is an idiot if he chooses uofk over osu
Stoops must be using some kind of brainwashing tactic.
"Strike like lightning. Leave the thunder for those who like a loud roar!"
Who is Timmons?
Bit of some news. The OP probably does know some insiders because there are a lot of insiders saying that Jason Hatcher is a commit to UK. One UK Insider had sent a text to Jason Hatcher to see if he's committed and Jason Hatcher's reply to that was that he'll have to wait till National Signing Day to find out. Once the article from USC came out saying that he re-committed to them and then erased the message on Twitter that he was de-committed from USC, they UK Insider contacted Jason Hatcher again and got the same response that he'll have to wait until national signing day to find out..
I will say that the OP is wrong about one thing. Jason Hatcher wasn't guaranteed a starting position at UK, however he was guaranteed playing time. But its not because Stoops doesn't like the players that he has, its simply because Mark Stoops doesn't have anybody there..lol. UK has been playing a 3-4 defense for 2 years so that left the Weakside DE position with no bodies. The only person on the currently roster that can play that position is Alvin "Bud" Dupree and he is assuming the starting position at that Weakside DE position. There will be a time when Bud Dupree gets tired and someone will have to come in and do that. If Jason Hatcher commits he'll be the only person on the roster that is capable of doing it. Because of that I don't understand the angle that you take on respecting Charlie Strong even more. If Charlie Strong was in the same position and has no choice but to play the guy then he'll use it as a selling point as well. That's what recruiting is, make a negative seem like a positive to the recruit....
As for Ryan Timmons, he's a WR from Frankfort KY. He's a 3-star on Rivals and 247 sites but he's a 4-star on ESPN and has offers from UK, Missouri, Florida, Ohio State, and California. Those are his finalists. I am surprised that Charlie Strong didn't recruit Timmons but by the looks of it looks like Charlie Strong wants taller WRs as Timmons is 5'10" and Quick and Montgomery are taller WRs. Timmons however is rated higher than Montgomery by everyone. According to some scout services Quick is considered the best WR or the best player in KY while Timmons is considered the best "Athlete" in KY.
As for the person who said that UK only gets 4-stars that are from the state of Kentucky or have academic issues that nobody offered or from JUCO. After NSD you'll need to look at this list again. By ESPN's count UK has an additional 4-star already committed from the state of Ohio, he's a 3-star on other services. Also UK's is about to have another unanimous 4-star according to Rivals, ESPN and Scout from the state of Ohio as well....UK also has another 4-star from Florida that is saying that UK is his favorite right now but will announce who his choice is on NSD.

Good info, reasonable perspective. Thanks.
Hatcher could start at a lot of schools. Why go where you will never win? Stupid decision on his part if he goes to UK. He would be better off at WKU.
Nobody uses ESPN rankings for players, they are all over the map.......well, except for uofk fans searching for the light.
To be fair nobody uses any of these ranking services. All of these (Scout, Rivals, 247, ESPN) are for the fans. What the actual coaches uses are none of these. So all of these services are for the fans to shoot for the lights....
UK just offers whoever Charlies recruiting, lol
When signing day comes,You guys will see DiamondCard was right
Ukani, when defending UK's 4 stars why no mention of the fact that the 4 star from Florida you brought up was dropped by every other major school because his grades are bad and he doesn't have a good enough ACT? Now I'm sure Sandy Bell will get him an A in some online aerospace engineering classes, and a 34 on the Richie Farmer online ACT streamline test.
UK is gonna get 4 star, maybe even an occasional 5 star player because kids like the challenge of the $EC. What kids don't realize is that AT BEST they will get 8 wins, counting a music city bowl win. How many 4 and 5 star UK players are relevant now? The only UK player of relevance is Randall Cobb, who I believe was. 2 star. Others such as Micah Johnson, Morgan Newton, Trevard Lindley etc are either in arena football or free agents. That's just an estimate, but you get my point. You can't
put a value of a player based on star rankings alone. player development is huge, and our staff does a great job turning boys into men on the field. So UK can have it's 15 minutes of fame when a "lockdown" corner or "ballhawking" safety commits to them, but unless Stoops is gonna develop that player into an $EC caliber player to beat the likes of Bama, UGA, FLA, LSU etc, they are irrelevant come game day.
Which is what I meant.....most fans do not use the ESPN rankings (except when they have an agenda)
Well stated Eljefe. Mark Stoops has enjoyed coaching nothing but 4 and 5 star players while at FSU and they still couldn't win the ACC. What makes people think he can turn a cellar dwellar in the SEC into a juggernaut even if he gets a few high quality recruits?
