Guys, in order for us to beat Florida, it's going to take a lot of things to go in our favor. If our run defense can play their best game of the year, if our offense makes zero mistakes, our special teams magically make a dramatic improvement, if we can actually get our run game going, and if Florida takes us too lightly has a bad game, then we have a shot.
If we win it will be the biggest win in program history and I will go absolutely nuts. But we are definitely a year ahead of schedule to be in a bowl like this against an opponent like this and it would not shock me if we lost by 28 points. I will be quite pleased if we can simply keep the margin below two touchdowns. If we win, then Charlie deserves 5 million a year and a statue.
Florida is a solid team. Let's not disrespect them as two wrongs don't make a right. We don't need to give them any bulletin board incentive. They are a great team and should be favored by a couple touchdowns. Heck, I am fine if they are a 38 point favorite.
We have no chance and it would be a miracle if we were to win this bowl game. Where is Al Michaels? We might need his commentary by the fourth quarter.
I'm definitely not over confident, but I do believe that UofL has a shot in this game. There's little doubt that UofL will be facing the toughest defense they have faced all season. I don't have a lot of confidence in our ability to run the ball against them. We've not rushed well most of the season against easier defenses. Hopefully, our OC realizes this and doesn't pound the ball up the middle against the 5th ranked rushing defense for very little gain.
The big question is can we be successful in the air against the 15th best pass defense team in the Country. If we can, then Florida's grind it out and shut em down system will give us a chance. This is the key, UofL's strengths (their quarterback and receivers) against Florida's strength (their defense).
I am not very impressed with Florida's offense and feel that if we can get close to our average in points, then we'll have a chance in this game. Late in the season, a Jacksonville State team that gave up 51 to Eastern Kentucky and 49 to Tennessee Martin held Florida to 23 points. If Florida plays like they did against them or Missouri or Bowling Green, then I like our chances.
With that said, UofL must limit turnovers, play near perfect special teams, give Teddy time to throw the ball and at least slow down Florida's running game to have a chance.
We are going to be expecting a lot out of our defense in this game. With two freshman LB's playing big minutes we are going to have to execute our gameplan to near perfection. Let's not forget that Florida was just one game from playing for a spot in the championship game. I think I worry more about Trey Burton running their offense more that I do Jeff Driskell. We are going to have to tackle better than we have in any game this year. That is easier said than done, especially against players the caliber that UF has.
The early spread means nothing to me and I don't get caught up in the "matchup" game. If we can play together in every aspect then we certainly have a chance to pull an upset. Anything less than our best game for 4 quarters will turn into a very long day for us.

Here to eat crow. You guys destroyed us. No excuses. Congrats, Cards.
Well played Greater Gator. Well played.
It's all in the reflexes
Thanks for coming back, hopefully see you in a NC game next year, our schedule won't allow it though.

I'm so effing sad. Surprised by our success this season as I guessed 8-4 in August. Happy for Charlie...classiest guy on the block. Embarrassed by my team that laid an egg on the biggest stage.
Again, congrats Cards. This one goes in the books.
Classy post. I can count on 1 hand the number of opposing posters who actually come back after the game under these circumstances. This stuff happens in football, with 18-23 year olds playing a game. Chin up.
Damn dude. Nice call.
