If we stop Florida's running attack, we will win. I still say our team will be ready more then ever in the Sugar Bowl. I think we will see the D that we all wanted to see all year long. Teddy and the offense should be able to move the ball aslong as he is protected and we have no stupid turnovers, and the special teams plays good. Go cards. 24-17
The Train Is Rolling!
LSU, FSU, SC, etc didn't stop our running attack.... what makes you think Louisville can? In fact, you kind of sound like an FSU fan right before we ran it down their throats.... they thought they had the #1 rushing D in the country... LMAO. Honestly, y'all can win this game but I don't get why you are so confident.
Talk to the Dude
Hummm! Gator ,Taste like chicken , but takes a licking .
Dude says "What up Dog , GO CARDS !"
I am confident because I know what this team is capable of, and I am confident because I stand behind this team reguardless because I am a true fan of Louisville Football. You are confident also of your team.
I've watched significant portions of seven Gator games this year. Anyone who thinks they are not an elite team needs to (re-?)watch some of the Gators' games from this season. It's easy to dismiss UF as a "non-elite" team by glancing at their margins of victory of their QB's passing statisitcs. But that's not a proper way to gauge Florida's success. They are the "Iceman" of college football in that they grind(or bore) their opponents into mistakes. They have one of the nation's top kickers and punters, the rarely turn the ball over, and they have one of the best defenses in the country. Their running game is also very good. These ingredients provide a recipe for a boring, but very effective strategy, which is to just "manage the game" until your opponent makes a mistake. It's not an accident that their only loss was the result of a six turnover game.
So the Gators have the right to act elite because they have beaten several other elite teams over a grueling schedule. Don't let their lack of a gaudy offense fool you into believing they are not an excellent team. Having said that, the Gators haven't faced a team with our offensive prowess, other than Texas A&M (which was early in Johnny Heisman's season) and Georgia. A&M was a close game, and Georgia was a loss. (EDIT: Forgot to mention FSU, who has a very decent offense. If EJ Manuel wasn't a turnover machine, FSU can win that game; we know Teddy will not hand out three picks.) Consequently, Gator fans likewise shouldn't overlook this little Big East team too much, even though we have played a very soft schedule.

SC is a bad example, because Florida only had 89 yards rushing. I'd say 4 turn overs was the difference in the game.
Disregard the Georgia game though (75 yards rushing), Missouri (170 yards rushing), LA Lafeyette (149 yards rushing), Texas A&M (142 yards rushing). Now against Mizzou, LA Lafeyette, and Texas A&M those aren't bad numbers, but they aren't exactly a rushing juggernaut. Just look at the facts/stats. First 6 games of the season compared to the last 6.
First 6 games: 233 YPG rushing
Last 6 games: 154 YPG rushing
Just look at the stats. Ran it down FSU's throats? I'm sure 5 turn overs had nothing to do with beating FSU. Not only that, but even with 5 turn overs, FSU only lost by 11. I could be wrong... but that's not running the ball down someones throats. That's beating them with superior defense, because I'm only spit balling here, but if FSU protects the ball they win the time of possession battle and probably win that game easily.
Am I saying Florida isn't good? Not at all, Florida is a very good team and Muschamp is a very good coach. What I am saying, Florida's elite rush attack isn't as elite as Gator fans make it out to be.
Something to keep in mind is that we pretty much stopped Georgia's offense (stopped them from scoring a lot at least.... especially when you take into account that we turned it over 6 times) and Murray turned the ball over a few times. South Carolina was not accustomed to turning the ball over as many times as when they played us and FSU fans were adamant that EJ would dominate us (not turn the ball over). Many FSU fans are still flabbergasted because that was EJ's worst game of the year. The thing is that when you don't play tough defenses you don't turn it over as much. The reason EJ threw so many picks and had a forced fumble is because of the pressure we put on him and because of the skill level of our other defensive players. Your QB may very well avoid throwing picks against us but what is the toughest defense that he has faced? Things look different when facing a different level of competition. Now, I may be completely wrong and a huge homer but I think our schedule was a little tougher. We have ran the ball against some of the toughest defenses in the country which leads me to believe that we will be able to run the ball against y'all. On the other hand, our defense IMO is one of the best in the country (Bama gave up more yards to common opponents, FSU's gaudy stats are a result of their competition, etc) so I think we will be able to stop y'all. Also, we control the game clock. We dominate our opponents in time of possession. If this holds true and Driskel continues to take care of the ball like he has in every game minus the Georgia game then I think we will win. The other factor that will push us over the top IMO is special teams. We have a great punter and a great kicker. We pin opponents deep and if they try to return it we force fumbles A LOT. This helps us to slowly suck the life out of our opponents. Obviously, none of this talk will matter on game day. If we don't show up you will win. It's that easy. But if we bring our A game (the game that beat 5 of the top teams in the country) then I think the Sugar Bowl will hold another Gator victory.
We beat FSU by 11 but our prevent D let EJ Manuel run in a TD with 0:00 on the clock cause they were celebrating the win. Our DB even gave him the TD signal in his face. Get out of here with that noise. Did you watch that game? UF rushed the crap out of them! Five turnovers? Yeah, defense is also part of the game. Interceptions and fumbles help you win. FSU scored on a short field after UF turned it over. Can I discount that score then? Fact is all your "IF" comments don't change the fact UF is 11-1 with wins over 3 top 10 programs and a #12 FSU.
We forced those turnovers. None of those teams are as turnover prone as we made them appear. The reason Florida fans over exaggerate our rushing attack is because we have seen it eat clock and exhaust defenses. Our rushing attack has won games for us because it allows us to dominate time of possession and keeps us from making game changing mistakes. The stats don't tell the whole story because while our defense is on the sideline resting up to force another turnover, the other teams defense has their hands on their hips gasping for another breath on the field. Also, Driskel has taken a lot of sacks so that takes away from some of our rushing totals.
By the way guys, I am enjoying this conversation. I hope I don't sound like a douche. Obviously, we all love our teams so its easy to see why we are all so adamant that our team will win on game day.
Well then say that. I have no problem with Gator fans saying your rush attack is the perfect compliment to your excellent defense. That is VERY true indeed, it makes for an exhausting game on both sides of the ball for your opponents. A tough as nails, physical defense, and a smash mouth, run based offense.
As I said, I never called Florida a bad team, I just had a problem how Gator fans blew their team out of proportion offensively. Florida is a DEFENSIVE team. They are a smash mouth offense to compliment their rock solid defense. It's not the prettiest offense, it's not the best offense, but it's an appropriate fit.
In fact, I've stayed completely true to what my team is capable of. I know Bridgewater and our receivers are our strength, and if we can protect Teddy then that is our chance to win the game. I'm not saying our defense is going to stop your run, I'm not saying our run game is going to take off and gash you, I'm saying if our tackles can keep your DE's off Bridgewater and give him time, then that is practically our only chance of winning. We can only win with superior offensive fire power, not because we will out defense the Gators.
Sorry if I made it seem like I think we have a great offense because that is certainly not the case. I think our offense is great for what we have been doing this year though as long as all of the components are working properly. If you talk to me during the game I'm sure I'll tell you that our offense sucks
Ok fine... +4 on the turn over margin and won by 17. Anyway, you skirted around my point and deflected with an argument that had no bearing on what was being discussed. Florida did not 'run the ball down FSU's throats' as someone had previously said. Florida's defense kept them in that game, and turned the momentum in their favor with a forced fumble in the 4th quarter (which led to a touchdown and taking the lead back).
Can you honestly say Florida's defense did not win the FSU game? It wasn't an 'amazing rush attack' that gave the Gators their edge. It was defense.
That O-Coordinator you all got absolutely baffles me. I watched that game against Georgia, and oh my god the play calling was atrocious. In fact, depending on where the ball was on the field, I could predict the play calling based on formation, down and distance, very easily. He did that all game. You can tell he wasn't used to playing that level of competition and that he was probably a coordinator that won games with superior talent, scripted play book, and superior execution against inferior talent.
Not sure why any Card fan thinks we really deserve much respect. Seriously who have we beat worth a crap? Defense? we suck! Offense "can" be good but who knows half the time. Hope we play well but I won't be taking UL in this one.

Wow cardaddict! Are you also preparing for the end of the world this Friday too? If that's the case why even make a prediction?? Don't be such a pessimist.
Are you one of the same fans who boos your own team and leaves at halftime?
We might be an underdog in this game but I wouldn't be surprised if we go in there and win it either. We have a fantastic QB in Teddy, very good receivers and a capable running game if Wright and Lamb both do work at at least advance the ball a few yards per carry. And are you ignoring the fact that Rutgers was suppose to have this vaunted Defense a wells and we pulled that one out with a gimpy Teddy. Well Teddy is back to full strength now.
Our D will step up too. We have been a little banged up but our guys are getting healthy and Charlie will have a very good game plan for our O and our D as well. Charlie knows the guys on the other sideline and you can be damn sure he worked with Vance and our D to come up with a good plan.
So get your panties out of your crotch and support your team dude!
Rutgers.... talk about paper tiger. sheesh really. smh I am a realist. Sure anything is possible but I know our team and to put it simply.... UF's offense will have little trouble unless they stop themselves. You are hoping a whole lot. You sound like a UK fan ignoring reality. No I don't boo unless someone deserves it and does not give effort which is my only criteria. Losing has nothing to do with booing but effort has everything to do with it.
The cardinals have nothing to lose. Teams with nothing to lose tend to make games more interesting. I don't see why the cards can't make it that way in this one. If they play any where near how they played the first half of the North Carolina game this game will be very interesting.

Yeah I think UF's D is a little better than Rutger's "vaunted" D. In fact, most UF/fans of other SEC schools would laugh at anyone considering Rutger's D to be vaunted.
I would say a mental let down would be the best thing. Face it Florida is not excited about playing us. They might shoot themselves in the foot who knows.
The games we looked lackluster in were against lower-level teams. UL is not a low level team by any means but if the Gators drew Oregon or K-State they'd be hungrier. This is my main fear of this game.

Everyone said the same thing about the UF team that faced Cincy in the Sugar Bowl in 2009-10. Both teams in that game were better than the two in this game, but Cincy got ROLLED, and had played a rather stellar season to that point. They didn't sneak in the backdoor like we did. They were #8 in the country, and undefeated at the time.
Cincy that year was #3 when we faced them and were actually in the talks of playing in the championship game. UF came off of a demoralizing beating from Alabama in the SEC champ game. They were out for blood in that game.
Here's how it is, if Louisville can establish a run game, well have a chance, we won't stop the run, but well have to force them to throw the ball more than accustomed. Wouldn't be surprised to see teddy thrown an early pick, maybe two, simply because this will be the best defense he's seen by far in college. I have a feeling Florida will come out slow not expecting a game, and well have to get up on them early to have a game, scoring the first touchdown could be key.

If we come in a three man front, we're toast. Our best bet is to change it up with a 4 man front. Maudlin and D Brown could make a difference. If the coaches get stubborn, it will be the worst beatdown we have seen in a long time.
