BCS Top 9

  • That's right. There's a top nine now. The next 10 go on page 2. I wonder why it's 10 - 19 on this page. Obviously you can only squeeze 9 per page.

  • Is this ESPN?

I was going to make a joke about them doing that when the new BCS ranking were released but I didn't think ESPN would go that far.

    Insane.

    UofL3000

  • Yeah, that's from last night's BCS Countdown show.

  • dang, in another thread I joked about ESPN only showing the top 9. I was just joking though. no

  • Well, it's a good thing that we weren't 8th. "The BCS Top 1-7, 9, 10" would have looked kind of awkward. But I'm sure that ESPN could have pulled it off. After all, they are the worldwide leader in sports.

  • It's not just BE hate over there it's Louisville hate and it's big time hate. What did UL do to piss ESPN off?

  • You know Hurricane Sandy is ESPN's doing too.

They purposely had it target Big East football schools. The only two they were unable to affect were Louisville and South Florida.

ESPN's agenda is clear now! Somewhere ESPN President John Skipper is laughing hysterically as he mashes the big red button on the Diabolical Weather Machine. It's only a matter of time before a plague of locusts invades South Florida and zombies run amok in Louisville.

  • I've seen several examples of this. Earlier this year I saw them show the entire top-25, when we were ranked, and somehow jumbled it around where we weren't shown. 1 or 2 times I can see, but there is something to all these "mistakes."

they probably read the the well deserved sh!t we shovel on them daily as card fans. I still say however that since the big east dumped espn like the whore that it is, they are shutting out uofl because of our conference affliation, they are throwing hissy fit because they couldn't get the big east on the cheap and that the big east might end up dealing with a network that won't put of with some of the horsesh!t shennannigans espn has been pulling in college athletetics. I doubt nbc would have just sat by and let espn rob us of a georgia game if they we're going to air it.

  • Who cares? When we run the table and win our BCS bowl they won't be able to ignore us anymore. Then we do it all again next year.

My only hope is that old Lou and Corso keep giving us good press. They are both old and crazy, but regardless who it comes from, they still both speak highly of the program.

Outside of them and a select couple others, ESPN can suck it and suck it hard. If they didn't have the bulk of football/bball games I'd never watch them.

I agree. When I first started seeing people making posts about this I thought they were simply conspiracy theory types. But, I have to admit that there have been way too many instances for it to just be coincidence. ESPN has been dissing us every opportunity they get, beit leaving us off of undefeated lists, saying we are not bowl eligible and now completely changing sports lingo from top 10 to top 9. Yes, there is a conspiracy. I have zero doubt about it.

  • I've seen many times on the ticker, they won't put the ranking next to our name, but every other ranked team they do. I've always wondered what we did to make them do this.

belonged to a conference that turned them down in negotiations. they are trying to devalue the big east by devaluing uofl. We are the hot commodity in the big east right now, other BE schools probably don't like hearing that but its true. We are top 10 in football and and top 5 in college basketball. Our basketball is worth a lot of money to a network, even moreso now that we know who our coach will be for the next decade. espn wanted that on the cheap and they didn't get it.

If they can get the other networks to reject what aresco wants for the tv rights, maybe they could counter offer with a slightly higher payout than what they originally got turned down for. Its not personal, its buisness.

  • The thing is, I am not sure nor convinced that even if ESPiN got the Big East, they would do anything more than what they do now. Pushing all of the Big East games into worthless time slots, keeping the rhetoric the same or slightly less or celebrating the wins of their darling ACC over IAA opponents would likely be the norm. Maybe a few of the 'Mistakes' would decrease. But I never got the feeling they truly valued the Big East even when we were with them. - DAWG

  • hmmm.....10 teams fit on the first page......but, only 9 are formatted for the 1st page........I see the logic ?? WTF

Can it get any more blatant ?

it is like watching MSNBC and CNN expecting to see a balanced report on politics and something good said about Romney......it ain't going to happen

Not sure about the locusts in Florida but Im guaranteeing that Zombies run wild in Louisville tomorrow night. Maybe there is something to the ESPN agenda.

Seriously Ive never been a media conspiracy guy but if you look at the situation as a whole you can see that ESPN does have a stake in making the big East look bad. They are getting ready to lose us to another network so anything they can due to diminish our value is in their best interest. This is one situation where I dont fault our fans for nit picking because I feel ESPN is purposely going out of its way to shed a negative light on us. Prime example was two weeks ago both UL and Rutgers are undefeated. Between the two schools we were given 6 highlights and a grand total of about 40 seconds of TV coverage. There were several other top 25 teams (not undefeated) that played mediocre opponents yet they were given a minute or two each with plenty of highlights and in some cases post game analysis. We got 6 highlights between 2 schools and not even one word of commentary before they moved on to other things

As mentioned Im not a conspiracy guy but ESPN is barred from my home unless we are playing on it. I tune in to CBS or Fox for my highlights and commentary. ESPN has become way too big for its britches and I cant wait until they fall.

So ESPN is behind those drums in the warehouse that turns the town into a zombie mecca? Maybe they are the ones intending to nuke it at the end of the movie. pirate
