If Jones were to leave after this season, are we missing a true point guard type next season? I remember once thinking of Rozier as a distributor, but then he became a big time scorer at Hargrave.
How often do 5'8" guards leave after one year of college?
Worrying about Jones leaving is ridiculous because there is probably 1% chance of that happening. You can't count on that happening. And if for some reason it does happen, the coaches will figure it out. But the guy hasn't even stepped on the court yet.
if we really end up with whitehead, which i very suspect of, then we have traded up. If not guard wise its late in the game to get in on quality guys.
Snider is a loss because he was a hometown kid and we all watched him develop and grow to a 5* and then a 4* talent. Losing Lyle is devastating. I don't care how many people wish to speak poorly about his game on this board, he is a top 20 player. I also believe that our pursuit of Whitehead and our continued backlog of talented guards got to him. He is projected to be a top 15-20 pick in the 2015 NBA mock drafts. At a backcourt stacked as Louisville has, it's unlikely in his mind that he will show case the talent to the NBA scouts at Louisville to make a impact on the draft boards. This is a decision he is making with someone in his ear telling him that Louisville first means losing his draft position.
The whale gets harpooned only when it comes to the surface...
I do agree that he saw other talented guards that will still be around and he saw the writing on the wall. Again, we have bigger things going on besides showcasing a freshman so they can go pro as soon as possible. We have a TEAM. So many of these kids want everything handed to them. We just won a title without players like that and have a chance to win another. Sure sounds devastating lol.
LEXINGTON IS FOR THE BIRDS
I still wonder why this is happening. Im not gonna loose any sleep over a kid leaving, or better said, not coming to begin with, but it makes you wonder how we could loose 2 guys in such a short span of time. Mike whats the chances that we land Whitehead.
And i know Coach P will have us where we need to be, but just for once i'd like to see us out recruit sUcK!!!! Just Once. Thats all they care about in Lexington and it would be nice to beat them at their own game.
Not saying anything everyone else has already stated but wow, this is shocking to me. Where do we go from here?
Rozier and Jones are very talented but I'd be very suprised if we dont have both back next year, solidifing the PG position.
At the 2 we're guarenteed to have Ware, Gill and again Rozier will most likely be seeing the court here as well when Jones is in the game.
At the 3 we'll have Blackshear and Aaron, who could also move the 2.
Adding Whitehead would give us a pure scorer at the 2, while Lyle was more of a combo guard, I think Whitehead would be better suited for our system. Even without Lyle it's still a tough sell at the 2 for his freshman year. However, if we can convince him to maybe come off the bench as a freshy, his Sophomore campaign he will be handed the keys to the 2 guard and more the likely be the focus of our offense.
If we land Whitehead were honestly better off, only problem I see is our PG position going foward. If we address that with the 2015 class though, were still golden.
