As of right now our overall team ranking in football recruiting is 95th according to this network, 247. That's good for second worst among all BCS conference teams ahead of only Syracuse. Taking a step back that super-low ranking is obviously due to our shortage of current commitments which correlates to having less than the average number of scholarships available in this class. We all know this by now, I know.
But when looking at the true value of the current class we're ranked 39th best in average rating per commit. Needless to say that rating doesn't include James Quick and the many other prospects still on the board. Nothing I'm saying here is Earth-shattering news but this class, while smaller than most in numbers, has the potential to be pretty special.
Let me throw an analogy into your analysis. Our 2010 hoops class of Gorgui and Russ was ridiculed and viewed as one of the worst in our program's history. And we see how that turned out . . . .
So I like how this class is shaping up based on a lot of intanigbles, even if the rankings don't support our optimism.
I have ALWAYS judged our class by average rating versus overall....its STUPID to go by overall when there are so many teams that list 30+ commits, knowing at least 5 will never make it.
As I've said for a while, this class will have our highest average rating EVER.....it's currently 3, but will end up around 3.25-3.3
but the rankings do/will, when looked at properly
