That has never worked before, why does it work now? They have been able to sell playing time in the SEC for my entire lifetime and have never recruited this well. We are a much better program with more to offer and they have beaten us head to head for quite a number of recruits. Something is up.
"Son, come to UK and you will start now. Go to UofL, and you are redshirting immediately."
Agreed. It's understandable that SUK recruits well in Ohio. But who cares?. We just need to take care of our business. I'll take our Florida connections, our staff over theirs.. Plus Stoops, if he has any success, will be out the door fast.
But who's to say that their class is better than ours? I value our staff's evaluation talents more than I do these services. We've got depth up and down the roster now. We are not only filling our roster, we are filling it with talent AND character.
It's not possible to hate UK more than I do - as much, but not more :) - but I think the obsession with any success that they have is downright embarrassing, We should be walking with a ton of confidence right now. We are U of L, the best athletic program in the country. We take a back seat to noone. It's all good in the Ville.
Three star Florida recruits are just as good, if not better than four star recruits from Ohio.
Just remember Stoops defense could not beat florida with veteran FSU players, and it was telling, Florida was way more physical in that game, on both sides of the ball.
I don't see any obsession. I see people having discussions. I'm not worried about them in comparison to our program, I just think something fishy is going on. And I still don't expect them to become anything more than a joke in the college football world.
People you have to understand UK is in the SEC, they're offering early playing, selling a vision of something new starting with them, great competition, a high energy staff and head coach from one of the powers of college football, 50k for a spring game proves they have a passionate fan base, recruiting friends, and making Ohio a priority, (much like UL in South Florida).
I'm very suprised you guys haven't recognized this recipe yet!! Take out SEC and input Bug East with possibility of ACC/Big12, South Florida for Ohio, and you basically have Jurichs plan when he hired Strong. Barnhart basically copied that strategy. And voila, they're having 'strong' success in the recruiting game.
Be realistic. UK will be a formidable opponent over the next few years. As someone who loves competition, I'm glad for it.
UK just hired a new compliance officer JUST for football. Sandy Bell will focus on basketball compliance.
Its top secret so dont tell anyone---- They have a new coaching staff.
Once they keep on losing we will see how the recruiting goes.
I really think we dodged a bullit with West, I was not a big fan of his game. If we can hold onton Michael Johnson, we by far got the better safety.
Have you seen their schedule? An objective appraisal statistically suggests that UK will likely be 1-3 heading into a road game at South Carolina....a top 10 team...then turn around and host likely #1 in the country Alabama at home. All this hype will subside very quickly....if it doesn't abruptly after they lose to WKU in a neutral site in Nashville. True freshmen starting against the likes of Petrino's coaching, Louisville, South Carolina, Alabama ( all deserved top 10 teams) is a recipe for disaster.....just sit and enjoy UL's strong foundation of success we have and a very very deep and talented football club....headed by a quarterback who is projected the #1 overall pick in the 2014 nfl draft. Go Cards.
"UK announced the hiring of Rachel Newman Baker, previously the NCAA managing director of enforcement for development and investigations, as its new associate AD for compliance. She starts July 8 and will report to Sandy Bell, the executive associate AD for student services, and will oversee football. Bell will continue to oversee compliance for basketball."
So their new compliance associate is the former NCAA managing director of enforcement for development and investigations. We all know how competent that section of the NCAA is after the botched Miami investigation. Geez.
my thoughts on sUK. number 1, if your a kid who only views college as a means to an end to the draft then uk is not such a bad spot. terrible team in the best conference means as an individual you can attain early and often playing time against future pros thus allowing scouts years of film on you to show your progression. If you dont care about winning or your teammates then go to UK.
number 2, after going 2-10 again and losing to bobby p and western i doubt too many highly ranked players continue to flock to sUK unless for the reason stated above. UK will always be in the bottom half of their conference and would be shocked to see a BCS bowl in the next 10 years.
number 3, If, and its a big if, Stoops could win on a somewhat consistent level and sUK i highly doubt their athletic department is in a position to, or willing to, make Stoops a top 10 paid coach and fight off more traditional powers. I dont see sUK AD making the statement "We will never lose a coach because of money" and it being true!!!!!
really??? who caresabout what uk does? screw them
there's always another recruit AND by the way, we've done pretty well

In all fairness, they haven't played a game yet.
The patterns are disturbing, but it could be a case of just selling playing time.
