I don't think L1 is saying this out of inside information. I think he is just making a statement as to coaches in general.
L1 is definitely the most connected person around but I think he is just making a generalization here.
I don't begrudge any coach with a wondering eye because coaches aren't given the benefit of the doubt any more. Two substandard years and you are on the hot seat. If fans can turn on you like that, then I would keep my loyalties at arms length as well.
I don't think Strong will wonder after this year. He has too much returning. But I can buy that he isn't ready to sign on past 2018. Why would he? As far as he knows, UofL does not have access to a National Championship right now. He has time on his side on the contract end. So I would punt any extension until things are known.
In the meantime, I think the collegial nature of our athletic department will keep him around at least for the next year or two.

Why is this BS? Have you talked to Charlie? He just happens to be a straight up guy. He is not leaving here for a number of years if at all. He was passed over for years by a lot of these schools for reasons that have nothing to do with his exquisite coaching ability. Why would he be excited by them now when our school gave him the shot and pays him top dollar all the while giving him pretty much anything he asks for. He has children here who love the community. He isn't going to Arkansas and there is no reason to believe that job would be open to him. They have awesome facilities and the man is from there. He is a man of principal and loyalty. He wants to do the job here. Now if at some point he really builds this program up to regular excellence and Notre Dame or Florida or Ohio State came knocking then maybe he would want to listen.
If he retires here I think that there would be a fight to get to the head of the line when collections start. I'm gonna take him as a man of his word as he has yet to show otherwise. It's so refreshing to have Coach Strong here as he really is forming quite a program.
