For the life of me I can't understand why the Dawkins kid at Trinity is not getting an offer. Everyone says it is because we are loaded with RB's but 3 of them are juniors , yet our wide receiver corps are just, if not more, loaded and there are 6 listed WR on the top target list for 2013.
From all accounts, he is a good kid, good student and his father excelled at the Ville
I agree 100% it's one schlorship to a good kid.
When you have limited offers to give, need precedes desire.
I would still hate to see another solid kid from our in-state leave and play against us
I understand that....so why waste more scholarships on the receiving corps when they are already loaded...that's my point exactly...need precedes desire
There are three WR positions and the TE which some of these kids grow into. So in effect you are recruiting for 3-4 positions as WR's and there is but 1 RB. Even if with our embarassment of richs at RB we go to a two back set, Dawkins isn't going to be playing FB anytime soon.
Having said that, CCS recently said we may have as many as 18 slots open up this year, and I hope if at all possible he offers Dawkins, a Trinity kid and a legacy!
But I'll leave the heavy lifting (recruiting strategy) to CCS! I believe he has earned our trust.
Great time to be a Cardinal, and getting better!
Looks like that theory is out the window with the Watkins kid (RB) from FL making his decision on August 31st and we are at the top of his list.
Watkins is an "Athlete." Some sites list him as a RB, and if you look at his highlight reel, you will see he plays WR in HS. There is no telling where he plays in college. I would not assume that we are recruiting or will use him as a RB.
Well if it is WR, I think we are pretty much loaded there also.
This is one of those times you have to trust your coaching staff. Who has been killing it on the recruiting front since they stepped on campus.
I'm worried that he will commit to Cincinnati (likely) and be a star.
