WE HAVE A WINNER!!!!!
For the people on the party deck, why don't we send some cheerleaders up there to lead C-A-R-D-S chants and defense chants. At least then they would be cheering instead of just socializing. I'm sure people would join in at the top of the end zone and the ones well lubricated would probably cheer as well.
A lot of this sounds way too gimmicky to me. I know gimmicky is kind of our style but thunder sticks? Bird chirping kazoos? We aren't a minor league hockey team. I also doubt they will actually do anything that takes money out of their pockets like thousand dollar give always and dollar beers. If they are selling plenty of beer they have no reason lower the price.
It sounds simple, but the best way for us to achieve this goal is to keep winning, get a better schedule, and have fans realize what just happened with Charlie Strong. I don't think Strong wants a circus-like atmosphere with gimmicks tricking people into getting to their seats. He wants them in their seats eager to watch a football game. I think that will come with more time and more big boy football. Not more J-Bone type stuff.
Actually, the Thunder Sticks were great. Bird-chirp kazoos does sound horrible though, I just picture those horrible World Cup Soccer noise makers. Ugh
L1C4 - LFD
I agree. Thundersticks yay, bird kazoos nay.
Definitely move the corporate and student sections closer to the end zone. They are always slow to fill, and looked especially bad on Thanksgiving weekend. That's the game when students are either at home or still in bed. These two sections show up on TV a lot and don't represent UofL very well.
Friends of mine told me that ACC student tix are free. Clemson and Fl St. First ones there get tix. Student sections are packed an hour before kickoff.
BCS win, Women's Final 4/National runner-up, Men's Final 4/National title, trip to College World Series. Excellence like no other before.
This^^^^ Cheap beer in your seats until kick-off.
Thunder Sticks. If they can't Give them away for conference games, can they sell them for $1...
Count me in the minority here. I am one of the "Old Dudes" but my family and I tailgate every game. I spent years on a waiting list to get where I am at toward the front of the Green Lot and have been faithfully paying my seat donations every year since before this stadium was built. Under the suggested plans here I would be back in the B or C lot while students who donate nothing and others who may also donate nothing park close to the stadium. Also, you better beef up security because before there was assigned parking all the people tailgating in the front were spreading out over 3-6 spaces which severely curtailed the number of people who could tailgate in the front. And there was no way to enforce getting them to move their stuff so others could park. With assigned spaces they actually can force people to move and also tow their vehicle if they don't.
“Sure I eat what I advertise. Sure I eat Wheaties for breakfast. A good bowl of Wheaties with bourbon can't be beat.”
Just get there early and you still get in the front. No Problem.
Ushers to prevent taking up multiple spots as many others have indicated.
Sounds good but would not work. Every possible situation was analyzed and assigned parking was the only way to make it work.
What if there is assigned parking, but the parking spot isn't assigned until the vehicle arrives at the stadium each game?
So essentially, this is how it would work: you drive to the Green Lot with a pass that guarantees you a parking spot in the lot. Upon arrival, the workers at the gate give you an assigned parking spot (indicated by a ticket of some kind that you put on your dashboard). Obviously the parking spots are assigned in order of proximity to the stadium. Why wouldn't this work?

I was at an event at B&W Club last night and had a conversation with one of their sound guys.
He said they working out the details to add more speakers around the stadium.
I said something to Sean Moth at the UKMC game, mainly because he could really fire up the crowd if given the right material (rather than simply reading commercials during play stoppage). He said they've been trying for years, but I don't know what that meant. So many of the sponsors have such cheesy promotions now.
We really need someone from the Athletic dept. or the Alumni association create a committee or something where people can offer ideas for discussion. Hire a marketing guru to see what would draw fans into their seats early (even something as simple as some sort of GOOD giveaways, instead of $5 off at the Paula Deen Buffet).
Other fans have suggested things I thought of too like the thunder sticks or towels to wave. There could also be some utilization of the old air raid siren either before or during the game. Teddy Bridgewater plus Parker, Rogers, Harris, etc. coming on to the field every time we get the ball. Something to wave like the crew on deck of an aircraft carrier does directing pilots before they launch the jets. They can really play up the aerial assault next year.
Getting people in seats early can involve discount concession prices that end 10 minutes before kickoff. Some sort of entertainment to get the crowd fired up during warmups and keep them pumped for when the team comes back out to start the game. Choose a fan of the game for every section to lead the crowd in something. Colored squares to make giant Cardinal pictures across the stadium when you hold them over your head like they do in the olympics.
Loudest section before each game wins free drink or something like that. There's so many things we can do to entice the fans into the stadium early.
