This article says it could happen....
As college presidents and powers-that-be in the Big East coerce each other into dismantling what was once the best basketball conference in the sport, a new question arises that will need to be answered fairly quickly.

Solid article, and I hope this happens. If we get in next year, we could go to the title game if we run the tables. No way that happens in a depleted Big East.
I agree with you. No question.
Sorry didn't see this one before I posted my post. LOL I guess I should hit refresh first.
That article appears to be talking about basketball in terms of 16 teams for next year...but for football, how would they operate at 15 without ND? Could we be playing next year in basketball but not football?
The ACC commissioner said they would take UL as soon as they wanted to come, so I don't think it would be a problem.
Outstanding. Doesn't sound like there would be much to keep us from making the early jump at this point.
I believe 15 math mathematically works. The problem is you wouldn't be able to have a conference title game and that would be an issue with TV.
Why no title game at 15? Conf Champ game only requires 12.
We could step in and take over Maryland's schedule if this propoels them into Big 11 or 13 for 2013. Minimal disruption if any to ACC FB.
ACC may not want to push maryland out if they want their $50 mil. Pushing them earlier would cost dollars as mitigation for Maryland.
A tangled web indeed!
Great time to be a Cardinal, and getting better!
You have to have divisions I believe and everyone in the division has to play everyone else.
I thought we were replacing Maryland in the Atlantic Div and I believe Syr was also going into that div, so if we adopt MD schedule and schedule cuse as an extra W, wouldn't that meet the criteria?
The $ec, and Big 11 or 13 must have the same challenges??
