I mean Vandy was a team that scored 33 points for the entire game against Marist. Texas A&M had lost by 21 against St. Louis, lost to Southern, and averaged just 65 PPG for the season. I really think UK peaked in making our game with them interesting at the end. That run will be their highlight of the season.

the refs starting to call cheap fouls and taking our press away made that uk interesting. make no mistake about that. Game was called totally different in the second half when the cards were up 17.

  • kentucky is going to the nit this year and i think it only sets them up for next year. at this rate poythress is not going pro and i dont know if wcs will either. i look for noel and goodwin to leave almost for sure but if poythress, wcs, harrow, and wiltjer return with all of those moster frosh this will be a deep team next year. i think next years uk ul game will be between 1 & 2 in the country.

edited sorry guys habit of checking the box.

  • These kids are all still going pro. Its all about "potential" and this draft class is weak. They have to go pro, because Cal has recruited an entire starting lineup and they can't all share minutes. Noel, Poythress, and Goodwin are still locks to go. WCS likely a top-15ish guy as well.

  • Why do people insist on VIP messages on free boards? There are two boards you can post your crap on. Further, what about this topic would validate premium content? It is a pet peeve of many on this forum.

Huh? I didn't do anything to make it "VIP," at least not on purpose.

  • Its a box you check apparently. I'm sure its a feature across these sites because some of them don't have separate forums, plus they link premium stories on the free boards. Might have been an accident that the above guy checked VIP box.

    Cory1984

  • Prob an accident. But its still annoying, lol

  • The funny thing is that a few of this players might play their way out of the the lottery, and end up in 2nd or 3rd round.

Wonder what Cal would do if he had to figure out where to put returning players with all his scholarship offers. That would be a cluster.

Fat boy isn't such a great coach when he doesn't have a team full of first rounders.

Ha, well all 4 freshman are projected first rounders currently. This is just the result of having no continuity in your program and rolling the dice that every group of new players will mesh well. Just sit back and enjoy as a team loaded with NBA talent misses The Dance.

3rd round? Obviously you don't watch many NBA drafts...there is no such thing. Cal isn't going to ever have a problem with the 13 scholarship limit. He might have one of these guys pull a Terrance Jones and return for a 2nd year, but he'll never have a log jam. He recruits basically 1 player for each position, with maybe 1 or 2 other guys to throw into the rotation. This group meshing as a team really doesn't impact their individual draft stocks. Noel is the #1 pick. Poythress, although the most stubborn and underachieving, has too much talent and will go somewhere in the top-10. He could play his way into top-5 or drop to the bottom of the lottery in the workouts. Either way, he's gone. Goodwin no doubt doesn't plan to return, and how could he with the Twins and Young in the backcourt? He's a mid first rounder. WCS could return and split minutes at center with Johnson, but his upside makes him anywhere from a late first rounder to maybe sneaking into the lottery. I think Harrow is gone as well. He's improving and he knows there isn't room for him to get many minutes next year. I guess he could see a reduced role next year then be the guy his SR year.

  • Pretty annoyed that they stayed within 3 of us. Either they played way over their heads that day, or they have folded in these other games.

I agree in general, but anybody who drafts WCS this season is a complete fool. There is no way that guy is ready to sniff the league yet, and his potential is not a lock either.

What would happen if they didn't leave? Wanted to stay bc they knew they were not first round locks? Next season you have 10 pounds for a five pound bag. Nice problem unless you have promi$ed everybody major minutes. Hmmmm....

The NBA draft isn't about instant impact guys, especially after you get past the first few picks. WCS would likely be drafted in the middle of the first round, so a pretty good playoff team not needing instant impact. His potential is enormous. That is easy to see. He's 7 foot and crazy athletic and also plays hard. Of course he isn't ready to contribute at the NBA level, but how many good centers are there? Give him 2-3 years of bulking up and developing and I bet he's a solid NBA player and maybe even a star.

All first rounders, and even all lottery picks are not created equal. NBA teams complain about this all the time. The team with the first pick looks around and says "Damn, none of you guys are worth the money. But we HAVE to draft somebody." That's probably going to be the case this year.

Rick likely didn't have a VCR to watch the tapes...that's my guess. Just kidding, glad he still is helping the Cards out in a way by embarrassing UK.

I think you are nuts. WCS in my mind is the best prospect of all the players. He is a John Salley type forward/center. He is actually the first player from there that I would pick although N. Noel will be before him.

Borrow money from a pessimist -- they don't expect it back.

    BIRDSEAT

  • I'd easily take Noel and WCS first out of all of them. Both need to gain a lot of strength but both have tremendous upside at the thinnest position in the NBA. Poythress has all the physical tools, but you can't teach a kid to play hard and with a high motor and he doesn't have it. He could be another MKG but instead I think he just washes out of the league after his first contract. Goodwin has a long way to go with decision making, but he could become a decent NBA player. Harrow has enough talent to play in the NBA, but man is he soft.
