this year, and return a better team next season. Especially after making a title run, there would be a lot of questions surrounding who turns pro early, but I believe that we have guys with a lot of untapped promise and a recruiting class coming in that fills our need for guys who can flat score. Jones athletically is very close to Siva. He'll have to develop that same type of leadership and ability to run the offense, but there is no question he is a more natural scorer. Rozier is a stud. Reminds me of D Wade (not saying that good). Gill might not make a huge instant impact, but he does hit the system to a T. Mango and Akau are long and athletic bigs. They will need some time, but they do add length and speed inside.
The last few weeks have sucked, but this program is still in excellent shape both now and in the future.
I'm not worried really, but I do think we need to avoid a team like Georgetown in the tournament. I just don't think we can win against that style unless we jump out to a big lead early. That said, this is as wide open as I've ever seen the college game, and anyone in the top 15 has a shot. I like Louisville as much as anyone else.
I think the issues we have are ourselves this year. For this team to rise above the competition, we have to become more disciplined as a team and play balanced as a team, like we did at the beginning of the season.
* Team play and balanced
* Better rebounding
* Better shooting and assists
* Intangilbles like chemistry and intra-squad personality disputes need to be resolved like they were last year, before BEAST tourney
It'a totally just my opinion, but I believe Peyton's game automatically increases in effectiveness in March - when there is more at stake.
I think the trip through the tourney will introduce us to new teams who will be surprised at all the stuff we do well. I would include Kansas, Arizona, IU and Michigan in this crowd.
Teams who could ruin things are teams with nothing to lose - Ok State, Oregon, a more humble NC State, the Zags on fire, even Boise. Plus, who the hell wants to play Butler?
