Harrison twins to announce this Thursday?

  • One of the Harrison's said on Twitter that they are announcing Thursday. This is interesting because they were supposed to attend Big Blew Madness next week and originally stated that they were going to announce on Oct. 29th, which is one day after their birthday.

    Hmmmmmmmmm shrug

  • The last I heard is the kids want to go to UK, but their Dad is pushing them to Maryland.

I will hate to see those two wearing Blue, but I also hate to see a parent get in the way of the kid's wishes.

Maybe one goes to Uk and the other to Maryland? confused

  • I'm just pissed at what Calipayme/UK is doing to college basketball. I suppose that is what happens when $$$$ rule everything.

  • If these dudes announce for anywhere other than UK, I'd have to guess something is up.

  • Probably going to announce for UK so they can get all that love at MM.

  • I'd be so surprised if they do pick uk. I have accepted the fact that they would commit there months ago.

It sucks too, because these guys are going to be all stars as either first or second year players in the NBA guaranteed. They have no weaknesses in their games, and they have the size of a small forward at the pg/sg position.

  • I've heard they have had a very shady recruiting process, led by their old man.

So Thursday is the day. Mark your calendars, if the twins go someplace other than UK then something has shaken up a sure recruiting "lock" for the kitty cats.

Maybe their birthday came early courtesy of some UK boosters and they want to announce early so they can get all that love at BBM.

They are Uk bound IMO. Never under-estimate the power of Sandy Bell's ability to sweep any mess under the rug.

I don't know. Maryland is dirty too. They have had some interesting recruiting lately.

Money is money and one and done is one and done. UK does not have a monolopy on either one of those things. If they pick Maryland I don't think it automatically means that UK is having behind the scenes issues.

But I would love it Cal crashed and burned. I hope it happens, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Money is always money, but if you were a one and done, why in Gods name wouldn't you go to UK? Cal has proven he gets top talent into the league and doesn't check up on the "student athletes" to make sure they are attending classes after the first semester. Why wouldn't the Twins go to UK over Maryland?

My speculation is they are trying to avoid the shit storm around UK recruiting, like LvilleKidd has been saying. Does he have creditable information? I guess we will find out on Thursday.

  • Interesting tweets by Eric Prisbell today. Basically without saying it is saying that Nike is nervous about this decision because Under Armour is pulling all stops to get these kids to Maryland. Saying that Cal pretty much gets who he wants and that this could be one he misses out on because his bagboy's can't do enough.

It's disgusting how shoe companies drive recruitments nowadays.

  • Seems like some early indications are actually leaning towards Maryland. I won't count on that though considering Nerlens was apparently going to Georgetown and then went to Kentucky. Can UA actually beat Nike and COW for a recruit though?

  • UnderArmour (based in Baltimore and the CEO is a huge Maryland alum) vs. the most crooked man in college hoops (Coach Cow)/Nike. Will be interesting to see how this one plays out...

I'd have to agree. I do think that UK is going to miss out on the twins, but not because of problems brewing at UK, but because Maryland is actually beating UK at their own game. These tweets are more than enough evidence of that.

Also, after reading these tweets, does it not concern everyone else of what CBB has become. I mean, before too long, this is how most programs are going to operate in order to keep up, and the ones that don't are going to get left behind.

Seriously, how do you compete with this ish? Shoe company officials having more access to recruits than coaches do. That's a new one. I don't even think NIKE has gone that far, to control all communications to a player(s) and only allow their officials access to them.

    Eric Prisbell ‏@EricPrisbell
Harrison Sr. told me college coaches not allowed to call his sons directly. Only person allowed to call them: One Under Armour official.

    Eric Prisbell ‏@EricPrisbell
Sonny Vaccaro told me Kevin Plank is a young Phil Knight ... Under Armour has come a long way in short time. We'll see how far Thursday.

    Eric Prisbell ‏@EricPrisbell
Sonny Vaccaro: "Maryland competing with UK for these kids shows the power of UA. Maryland has not won since 1919."

    Eric Prisbell ‏@EricPrisbell
One prominent Nike-affiliated coach told me he recruits players off Adidas AAU teams but not any UA AAU teams because "You have no chance."

@EricPrisbell you just gave the NCAA a way to look into the Harrison twins, that's a violation right there
