to field a basketball team with that style of play. Who would want to play for them or watch them play...U G L Y.
I would not have said that last year especially on senior night.
Just shows UofL can play whatever style the opponent wants. This is important for a tourney run....
No one said playing had to be pretty. Just effective. Coach Heath knows the game. He was the Coach Stevens/Coac Smart 20 years ago.
A simple question: is your butt jealous of the amount crap coming from your mouth?
Win, lose or draw it's still the four corners offense with a shot clock. Miserable.
It is miserable and very boring. Not sure how you recruit for this.
They had a good squad last year that embarrassed us on senior night. I think the issue is that maybe UL is just really good. Something happened at half time at Seton Hall game. If we play like this Monday and next Saturday holy geez. If we beat Uconn by 10-15 and embarrass Syracuse next weekend like Wisconsin did to the illini. One thing I'll say is I can't remember us blowing teams off the court like we have.
USF ran into the #1 defensive unit in the country. Plus, our kids had something to prove after last year. This was not going to be a pretty game for USF.
We made them look like that. The 38 points they put up is the lowest point total they have had all season. They average 62 ppg and we held them to 38.
We are 26-4 all time against USF. They are easily the most boring rival we have and should not be playing basketball at a major conference level.
AKA Big Game James
Should Georgia also not play basketball at a major conference level? USF beat Georgia 64-53. USF also won two games in the tournament last year, and the team was 12-6 in Big East play.
We lost to Providence by 45,139 points last year. Maybe they should have kicked us out of the conference, too?
If you want to win, you either have to change your system to fit your talent or you have to get talent to run your system. They don't have a lot of gifted scorers, so I'd say it's pretty smart for Heath to try to limit possessions. Hell, they were playing one of the best 2 or 3 teams in the country and I would not have expected them to try to run and gun with the Cards.
Beatles, Bill Withers, Citizen Cope, Jim James, Levon Helm, Lupe Fiasco, Waylon, Beastie Boys, Pink Floyd, Paul Westerberg, V-roys
Heath came from Arkansas where he got fired, but he played a similar pressing style as Nolan Richardson had brought to that program, right? Seems he tried that at USF for a while, then figured his best chance to compete was with solid D and the "burn" offense consisting of late shot clock triples. It worked beautifully last year. 12-6 in the Big East and getting to the Round of 32 in the NCAA T was impressive and never done before at USF. Seth Greenberg never could quite get them over the hump when they used to always seem to be on the cusp.
All it is doing is limiting the other teams possession. Teams that like to run will get frustrated and start throwing up anything to get the pace changed and more possession, The Cards like to run, but they are comfortable if they have to play halfcourt.
They would fit in perfectly with the B1G!!!!!
Slow plodding team that LOVE the slow ball!
Both Georgia and Providence have been final four programs in the past, Providence twice (with four elite eights). Both have won conference championships. Providence has 15 NCAA Tournament appearances while Georgia has 11.
South Florida has two NCAA tournament wins since 1971. They are demonstrably terrible and have never been ranked in the history of the program.
I'm not sure what point you are trying to make, presumably that one game doesn't make a team or program. It's not just one game with South Florida, it's 40 years worth of awful. As I said, they are 4-26 against us.
Actually, once all of the Big East defections are said and done, USF should be a solid middle-of-the-pack Big East team.
I just checked the record books. I do nothink they beat us by that much or someone would have the record for most points in a game.
