Kind of surprised Duke didn't get a vote.

BCS win, Women's Final 4/National runner-up, Men's Final 4/National title, trip to College World Series. Excellence like no other before.
Shows you how stupid coaches polls are. Wichita State jumped to #4 simply by getting to the Final Four. They ARE a really good team, but they're not the #4 team in the country.
I think the AP does the same thing. We were number 4 last year.
But I disagree. They gave us the hardest game in the tournament. They could beat any team ranked below them. They are like we were last year. They had some injuries but won by their defense.
5 losses and 3 of those were by one possession. An amazing season by almost any standard.
Just a couple of tidbits and these aren't all of them;
Championship game was up double digits in ratings from last year.
Record attendance for the championship game.
Luke was the first bench player to even win the MOP for the Final Four.
One helluva year that was unprecedented in so many respects!!!
Louisville-Michigan drove CBS to great ratings on Monday
I thought that in most years, the final four teams ended up as the top four in the final poll. Wichita State may not have been the #4 team in the country most of the season, but they were awesome in the tournament. Had they been on the other side of the bracket, I feel they would have given Syracuse a very tough game.

Respectfully disagree. They crushed Pitt, beat a 1 seed in the Zags, beat the 2 sead OSU, and took us down to the wire. Give respect where it is earned, and they certainly earned it. I have no problem what-so-ever with them finishing fourth. The only other thing they could have done was beat the national champions, and that's asking a lot, but they beat everyone else put in front of them.
Goofy poll though. I love how Marquette is ranked behind Miami despite waxing the Hurricanes head to head in the Sweet 16. As far as another team getting a vote I do remember in 1998 Carolina did in fact get 1 vote in the final poll. I have no idea why since Utah bounced them in the FF.
We beat everyone else in the Top 5. That's a CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON.
It is an outrage the Robert Morris is not in that poll!
I didn't know they did an NIT poll?
Not so sure about that. They could have beaten anybody on Saturday night-except for us.
If they are in the top 4, which should Gonzaga drop 11 spots for losing to a top 4 team?
The final AP poll each year is before the tournament begins.
In Miami's defense, they were missing their starting center for that game, and their best player had the flu or something, right? They were pretty much doomed by bad health luck. They were better than Marquette all year.
I don't think polls like this accurately rank the teams based on who is better than who, but I like it anyway. You make the Final Four? You get to be ranked in the Top 4. I'm especially happy for a school like Wichita St. Also, Colorado St should have been ranked. They could have made a Wichita-like run had they not been paired with us in the 2nd round.
If that's the case, then it makes any regular season poll worthless drivel if all that matters is where you finish in the NCAA tournament.
You're right. Only the coaches poll does a poll after the tournament. My bad. For some reason I was thinking that the AP did another one too.
Is this proof that more people care about Louisville than Kentucky? Perhaps it isn’t definitive but it is certainly corroborating evidence.
This poll seems to be much different than all the other WAY TOO EARLY polls out there now. Who's missing and not even receiving votes for the top 25 in the final coaches poll??? OH YEAH! The kwittens aren't even in the top 68. I mean they were the #1 over in the NIT tournament, got bounced by Bobby Morris and now are getting top billing for the early next season polls. That makes complete sense right?
It's proof that UK fans care more about Louisville than Louisville fans care about UK. I did not watch their championship game last year and I know that many other Louisville fans didn't watch either. UK fans were watching us though.
They annoying part to me is Wichita gets the #4 spot for making the final 4 but in football we make the BCS bowl and trounce the #3 ranked team and we end up #13. Not a big deal but with IU finishing 7th in hoops and us not getting any points for football, we are in second with 66 pts behind IU with 76. Had we finished 7th or better in football then we would be in first right now in the mens. The women are tied for 9th after gaining 30 points for finishing second in bball.
I fully agree. No consistency between the 2 sports. Wichita state lost to Evansville and Creighton TWICE, and yet just because they got the right matchups and made it to the final four (I repeat, I know they're a good team - but rankings should be on the entire body of work, not just the tournament), they get a #4 ranking? Our ONLY questionable loss was to Villanova, but they also beat the #3 and #17 teams (in this poll).
I actually agree with where we were at in football. We lost 2 games we shouldn't have, and that showed in our final ranking despite beating Florida. If we used this "coaches" system in basketball, then we should have finished the season ranked at least # 5 (considering Sugar Bowl was the 4th best bowl, only ahead of the Orange Bowl, and that the losing team in the title game was #2).
'while Michigan was likely the biggest brand name left in the Final Four"
what is that supposed to mean? It appears to me that they are saying that Michigan is a big brand name and the Ville is not. What has michigan done really? they are just like ND football all pr and nothing else
If only there were some sort of playoff to decide instead of arbitrary polls ...
