Is Drew happy to be first, is that it?
Please, God, make media assholes stay out of his way. Let Russ tell us in his words. Why rob him of his very deserved moment?

Good post Senore. Too worried about the scoop and not letting this kid have his moment, ala, what his own father did.
Hell, he could change his mind three more times tonight.
Ha ha, I almost hope he does, just to screw Deneer.
I mean how bad is that?
I didn't hear Deener say sh*t so when I hear Russ say it, it will be new to me.
I don't think this is shocking. As someone noted on another board, Russ has already missed out on $$ from autograph signings and he wouldn't do that if he was planning to turn pro. Still, I need to hear it from Smith himself tomorrow...
Rick is having a 1 PM press conference. Kenny Klein said if Russ had decided by then he will join in. That's exciting, means Rick planned to discuss other things. I assume those mainly are next season and recruiting. I'm look forward to seeing what he says about the returning players and what they need to work on. I'm also looking forward to hearing about how the rotation might look next year and how the new guy could fit in. Its all fluid, and there will be "Pitino Talk," but still gives you something with a looong offseason awaiting us.
Just reporting guys..don't shoot me
So wait. Monday everyone is pissed off due to "lack of local media coverage". Tuesday, the local media breaks news on a VERY POSITIVE UofL story...and we're mad about it?
I'm glad I'm not a media man in this town...jeez. Tough crowd!
I agree. Like we're a clutch of gaggling wives!
"Strike like lightning. Leave the thunder for those who like a loud roar!"
All I know is, if someone on this site had inside knowledge Russ was staying, outside the usual insiders they would be on here in a minute posting it. Its good, no GREAT news if true and it made my Tuesday night. Glad Deener Tweeted it....
as bad as its always been from the local yocal media
Post of the week.
people on this board are a fickle bunch. How many are gonna read this thread. And how many followers follow deener on twitter. Couple thousand total, and that might be a push.
Russ will announce it tomm and it'll be new news to the masses that don't keep up with it like we do.
It's not like Deener called Pete Thamel or anything.
Relax guys and enjoy the ride.
NBC ran with it....
There may be an early answer to Russ Smith play-by-play man Drew De...

I wish Russ the best of success whether he stays or goes to the NBA.
I agree. Deener is somebody who basically does what U of L tells him to. He wouldn't tweet that out if it wasn't okay with them. I don't really think Russ needs his "moment" to be a surprise to everybody. Its not like people are less excited or show him any less love because they knew ahead of time...and we're talking about only us hardcore fans mostly knowing ahead of time. Otherwise normal people will find out when the news comes on that night or the next day in the paper.
I think if he was leaving he would be in on the autograph signings so he could make plenty of money. Found it odd that he hasn't if he was going. Hope I'm wrong cause who don't love some Russ. Stay n bring us back to another championship game Russ.
Maybe he was really making a decision about it, just like he said. So no autograph sessions. Whats so hard to understand. Just means he was at odds with what he wanted to do.
Sometimes a cigar is a cigar.
Russ said he spills the beans tomorrow. Now, if everyone is wrong and Deener prematurely released a decision which is not actually made, Russ gets accused of lying and the whole affair takes its own direction.
Another thing - Russ is going to announce tomorrow. Being angry at Deener is my substitute for being mad at the media in general for the lameass urge to be first with news.............did Deener source his claims? Was that source the only possible source........Russ?
No and no.
F--- him. And f--- his trade.
I think Rick Pitino respects Deener. I just get this vibe when Deener has coach on his show. So it wouldn't surprise me if Rick dropped him a line.
test test test
$ from autograph signings? Puhlease. Thats chump change.
He may come back, but him not doing autograph signings is NOT the indicator.
I would probably believe its a level below (in terms of close to Russ) Rick, maybe KK or someone in the SID office.
Whether you like Deiner or not, that doesn't change the fact he clearly has people on the inside, as he does the coaches show for almost all the sports on the radio. He is an ambassador in some ways for the school.
For the record, as a former radio personality, I respect his job, but I don't necessarily think he is the best at what he does professionally. However I can't discount that he likely has many friends within UofL, especially since he seems to always toe the company line. Since that is how he makes his money, I doubt he would say something that is off the cuff. He's not shown that behavior in the past.
If so, our chances of a return trip to the Final 4 -- maybe even repeating -- just went up quite a bit. I wish him the best of luck in the NBA if that's the route he chooses but I would also definitely welcome him back with open arms for a senior year.
