Really excited about our class coming in. Our shooting troubles are over. PG worries are long gone. And we'll have Mangok serving as Gorgui 2.0 in the paint.
But will it be enough to go up against UK's class next year, especially if they get Wiggins? Who on our current team would need to stay another year for us to have a shot?
Too many variables. Who know what our roster will look like. Can't say with much certainty what UKs might look like either.
Mangok will be backing Gorgui up.... because I firmly believe he will be coming back for his SR year.
GMAN316: Jameis Winston isn't Jeff Driskel and Jimbo Fisher isn't Mushchump. FSU wins easily.
If all we lose is Siva, which is a real possibility, I think we'll be just as good if not better than UK next year.
I think it goes without saying that next years shooters + this years front court would be the best team in the country. But I just don't see it. Dieng will go in the first round.
Chane and Wayne are bigger questions marks but right now the smart money would be on Chane leaving and Wayne 50/50 to stick around.
If all we lose is Siva we will definitely be the best team in the state.
Regardless of who UKant will have next year, I believe we'll stack up as the better team.
We're going to be an offensive juggernaut, especially in the guard spots. However, at this point, it doesn't seem like anyone will be able to keep up with UK next year. This is one recruiting class (if they get everyone that they want) that I am absolutely stunned by. If they get Wiggins and Randle, anything less than a title would be a complete disappointment.
That said, this is college basketball, and nothing is guaranteed. If I had to pick one team to take them, it'd be ours. We'll be damn good as well, and hopefully our shooters can rain some fire. I think we have a solid shot at beating them. Won't be easy, but no rivalry game ever is.
UK next year will be insanely good, if we can hold our own, it'd be amazing.

Way too early to tell. Will we return Dieng and/or Behanan? Will any of their underclassmen return? Will they get Wiggins or wil he go to Florida like Vitale predicted? Wiggins is the best player in college basketball next year for somebody. Will they get Randle?
Wayne is nowhere near a 50/50 to leave player and the sooner fans realize this the better, because the expectations are way out of whack.
it all depends on who stays for UK. If Wiltjer and Goodwin stay another year they'll have weapons all over the place. I expect Poythress and Noel to leave.
Really!? A thread about next year's basketball season in mid November.....REALLY!?
We have the number two team in the nation, with something like 40 games left to play this year, and people are worried about how we will compare to a team next year???
This is just stupid. Let UK fans with their sh!tty team that is going to lose 12 games this year worry about next year. How about we enjoy the most talented UofL team since the mid 80's?
Wayne is not a 50/50 player. Unless he makes some huge, incredible strides this season, he will be back next year.
Chane will also be back next year but stranger things have happened. Chane doesn't have the outside shot yet, or the handles to get drafted. At least not drafted high. Chane will be back.
Dieng has repeatedly said how much he values an education and his #1 goal is to get his degree and he places this higher than a multi-million dollar contract. I could see Dieng leaving but odds are he comes back to complete his senior year.
I think all we lose this off-season is our seniors.
Could set up an very interesting and exciting next couple of seasons. :)
We have four signees and only three seniors. Unless I'm missing something , we have to lose at least one non-senior to make the roster work next year.
it sets up for a transfer. Has happened before. I won't speculate on who cause I don't want to turn this into a player bashing thread but CRP isn't a stranger to sending players to Bellarmine.
It was signing day...
I love to beat uk as much as anyone, but the the reality is it really doesn't matter how we match up against them, unless we play in the tournament which isn't really a high probability. They are going to be loaded with ultra-talented NBA-bound players until Calipari leaves or gets exposed.
My concern is not how we stack up to that, but that we have the type of players that can be developed into a championship contending team. In that respect, I'm pretty confident that we're pretty set for the next few years.
Nothing wrong with peaking ahead at a slow time when we play Samford tonight and are excited about our recruiting haul.
For us, Wayne is coming back...as Chane would say "point blank period." If Dieng is a 1st rounder, already at 23 or 24 years old, he leaves and finishes his schooling over the summer, online, whatever it takes. I think that is the best solution for both his basketball career and academic goals. Chane, in my opinion, will never be a first round NBA draft pick with his size and skill set. I think he can become a good NBA player, but he'll always be overlooked. He really seems intent on going after this year, and I think if he has an excellent year, especially if he is showcased on a championship team, he goes ahead and leaves.
For UK, I'd say Poytress and Noel are virtual locks to leave. Goodwin and WCS also very well could leave. I comapre Goodwin to Bledsoe more than Lamb because he's more explosive than Lamb. WCS at that size and with that athelticism will have scouts drooling. He could easily go top-15 on upside alone, and is much better than Daniel Orton was (who also was a backup big man as a 1 and done under Cal). Wiltjer is way too slow to be an early NBA entrant.
We will compete with them next year no doubt. There is no need to worry about them. We have all of the ingredients to not only compete with them but beat them. We know we will have returning talent plus adding what we are which makes us a perinial top 5 team for a while. Be happy with that. Who's to say that the blow hard nation even gets all of the guys they want and they all workout once they get there. The squid will soon float belly up with his strategy of trying to get all of these egos to work together. I'm just waiting for the collapse. Whether it be ineligibility, violations, team decent or injury he will get what's coming to him. Let's enjoy what we have right now. I want to stomp them SO BAD this year and make them a statement game! Seriously want to embarrass them out of the Yum! Center. Then next year we can go in and steal one from them in the Corrupt Arena right in front of the hillbillie faithful even with all of their 5 star rated kids. Everyone just assumes they will all make the grades, not get injured and workout playing with each other.
