Foul called on Russ Smith as he reaches from behind on Noel. Noel goes to the line, sub comes in, and Poythress replaces Noel. Rewound it back because I wouldn't think the Blew would do something so blatant, but then I remembered who they are!
Amazing how this was not caught by ANYONE (Louisville players, coaches, refs). It couldn't have been more obvious, yet they got away with it, and it was by no means an 'accident'.
Noel was clearly the one fouled & was at the line preparing to shoot when a sub was made. Slowly Noel steps off the line and Poythress walks up to the line. I guess they figured putting in a sub would get the refs attention enough to draw away from Noel stepping away & Poythress stepping in. They were right.
Ridiculous. Refs should receive a notice, & UK should receive a warning of some sort.
Question: If caught doing that, is it a technical? If not, what sort of discouragement is there to not try it? A few more of those and they may have won huh?
BCS win, Women's Final 4/National runner-up, Men's Final 4/National title, trip to College World Series. Excellence like no other before.
I was drinking and caught that.
Maybe one of our coaches should pay attention.
I watched the game with a UK fan, even he noticed it.
I thought the foul was actually on the pass to Noel, which is why Noel didn't shoot the free throws. But I don't remember exactly what occurred.
I noticed it at the game, but figured Noel thought he was the one fouled and it actually was Poythress. Can we confirm it was Noel fouled for sure?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if a player is subbed when he is supposed to be shooting free throws, he cannot return to the game, correct?
Can we say the refs sucked and we are so elated that Ukant can't hit FT's?
The foul was 100% committed on Noel, no doubt at all. The foul call came well after he got the pass, and the high official called it, who had no angle on the prior pass.
In regards to the substitution, it wasn't a situation where Noel was subbed for (actually I think it was a Louisville substitution), they used the substitution to shift Noel off and Poythress to the line. I hate to sound negative about it, but really, they way they pulled it off, that sort of thing has to be practiced and strategized. Dirty.
I guess the positive is he still only made 1 of the FTs.
I remember Travis Ford shot FTs for somebody else at UK and got suspended for a game, maybe even Pitino got suspended as well. This should be reported.
I just pulled it up, I'm in disbelief they got away with it. Tricky tricky tricky.

I hope somebody has the ability and time to put this on youtube for everyone.
I think there is a ref signaling that #22 is supposed to be on the line.
Watch as Coach Cal orders the switch-a-roo. High-Top the ugly dude who can't shoot free-throws switches spots with Poythress the ugly dude who can shoot free-throws.
These are exciting times to be a Card fan. Tell everybody you know, it's Cardinal time! Go Cards!!!

Where is the foul?
Good question ...
