Business considerations could factor into Kentucky bid

  • The fans didn't even buy tickets to the SEC tourney to see the cats, what makes people think the fans will buy tickets in the NCAA tourney?

The fans know UK has no shot to do anything and therefore aren't going to buy tickets to see them play.

Business should not come into it. If so they should just pick teams by how many tickets they sell and screw IU, and the committee if we win tonight and don't get the Indy, Midwest regional. Let Indy travel. Like we have had to several times.

  • Why would they screw another team for ticket sales for one game?

Anyone saying this is trying to sell Colorado ocean front property.

If financial considerations mattered teams would NOT be sent to play near their home locale. Louisville can conceivably drive in to Lexingtown play the game then go home for the night and rest away from the chaos. IU could do the same.

The fans will go for the day, watch the game, gas up and go home. The payoff for the host town is less.

Point being if money mattered, teams would travel so the fans would have to pay for food, hotels, necessities.

Borrow money from a pessimist -- they don't expect it back.

I have been saying this for a while now. Its all about money fellas and Uk brings the NCAA a lot of it.

  • Wow, all along I thought the tourney was about merit and the best teams. Now, I know SOS is not Strength of Schedule but "Strength of Spending".

    Consider me well-informed now.

You are confusing two separate things. Louisville and IU will play close to home this year as a reward for their season. UK making the tournament over La Salle, despite having similar profiles, would definitely improve any host site (even Philadelphia) due to the number of fans showing up for the games, eating at restaurants, sleeping in hotels, etc.

  • Complete fallacy. I could see if this were a bowl bid we're talking about, but traveling fans has no bearing on tourney selection. None.

  • The NCAA owns the NIT now, too. They need some teams who will draw fans in it, too.

These are exciting times to be a Card fan. Tell everybody you know, it's Cardinal time! Go Cards!!! Cards 32, Cats 14

  • The issue will come down to if the $ec deserves a 4th team to get in the tourney and if they do it comes down to Alabama and UK. Florida, Mizzou and Ole Miss are in....my feeling is neither Alabama nor UK has done enough this season to get it in the tournament. If you take UK you have to take Alabama and vice versa...no room for 5

  • I believe they will put UK in, despite solid evidence as to why they should not be in the tournament.

Kitten fan just told me that this morning. He actually looked baffled when I spoke of them as already being in the NIT.

I just don't see it. But I guess we'll find out.
