If financial considerations mattered teams would NOT be sent to play near their home locale. Louisville can conceivably drive in to Lexingtown play the game then go home for the night and rest away from the chaos. IU could do the same.
The fans will go for the day, watch the game, gas up and go home. The payoff for the host town is less.
Point being if money mattered, teams would travel so the fans would have to pay for food, hotels, necessities.

Wow, all along I thought the tourney was about merit and the best teams. Now, I know SOS is not Strength of Schedule but "Strength of Spending".
Consider me well-informed now.
